So a friend and I have been working on building my custom guitar for the last few months mainly on the weekends or whenever we could squeeze some time in. It's been a long time coming but we finally finished it and I know there are some musicians here that may appreciate this so I thought I'd share some pics of the journey.

This is how it started. Found a guitar body I liked and ordered it. Came just as is with a bare body and only the neck pocket and pickup pre cut.

Measuring and planning out the spacing needed for my chosen neck to drill holes for the bridge.

Test fitting, making sure the holes lined up and hardware fit.

Primer coat before we painted it.

Then said paint job.

Hydro dip to apply the graphics to the body (this was a total pain in the ass btw)

Gold leafing the back and outer "V" to make it really pop

Gold leafing finished

Had to do some work on the fret board with some polish and lower some of the frets

Sizing and centering the neck cap piece

Paint and base gold leaf for the neck

Decided to air brush some red in the gold leaf to try and get a "burning" look and to bring some of the color from the body into the neck

Also decided to use a red epoxy resin in the eyes and nose for some more flair, also burnished the skull to make it a little more gun-metal in color

Final sizing and spacing of where I wanted the tone and volume knobs. I was debating on using these "shotgun shell" themed knobs but decided against it.....

....and decided to go with these skull knobs to tie into the whole theme of the guitar

Last minute touches (attaching the strap and adjusting the fit)

And here she is, all finished and ready to shred

Oh we did, it's got at least 4 clear coats on it and then buffed out. Didn't take any pics of the actual clear coat and sealing process but in the last few pics you can see how glossy the finish turned. As for what made me want a V...well you kinda hit the nail on the head he and other artists like the late great Randy Rhoads  Add to that the fact that I have a few other guitars, none of which were a V and I had the perfect excuse to go and make one lol

I've got an idea. I have still have master recordings of one of the bands I was in, I can record new guitar tracks using this new one so you guys can get a feel for how it sounds. Give me a a day or 2 and I'll go into my studio and mix it and then upload it so you guys can get a taste.

Yeah, in those last picts i could see the gloss but i just couldnt tell how much there was but 4 coats will def do her. I forgot about Rhoads....shame on ME! Youre killing me Crap, making me want to go build a new one myself now. Looking forward to your upload of music, that'll be fun. Especially since your from the home of Death Metals creation and you live next door to NOLA where many of my favorite bands hail from, like Crowbar, Down and Acidbath, among many others. \m/

Sweet job Crap! Start to finish looks awesome and nice touches with the hardware. I almost did the shotgun shell knobs and also changed it up at the end too. Long LOOOOONG time ago and no pics left around. +1 on the vid, only the sound if you prefer. Got to hear that AXE!

I've got an idea. I have still have master recordings of one of the bands I was in, I can record new guitar tracks using this new one so you guys can get a feel for how it sounds. Give me a a day or 2 and I'll go into my studio and mix it and then upload it so you guys can get a taste.

    Looking forward to that recording.

As promised here are some tracks from a band I was in back in 06 called "Anger Management" I wrote and arranged the guitar work while my friend wrote all the vocals. I remixed them with guitar work from the custom guitar we just made. The guitar may sound a bit too full since I didn't really take a lot of time mixing the new tracks.

    Rock on Hippie

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.
