ya i actually dropped mine back down to 4.5 instead of 4.7, didnt really see a increase in anything else except score so not worth the extra voltage and temps.

CPU definitely plays a big role...especially if you run SLI.  I picked up ~300 points bumping my 2700k to 5.1GHz from 4.8GHz.

my 4.5ghz 2600k is holding me back ever so slightly i think, if i ever get the ambition to swap in my better mobo, i can push it further

I don't think you would gain more than a few points , sandy bridge i7 is still a very capable cpu . I use an ivy bridge , and it still performs way over what I need . Of course I get tempted to upgrade , but it is far too easy to turn into an update junkie ( as I did in getting my 970 FTW , my pny 770 was perfectly good enough ! )

i might, i should be able to get 5+ out of it, i am currently limited by the mobo not being able to support the power lol
i haven't had the corsair water loop on it with the other motherboard, i was able to get 4.7 out of the other board with air

and i know it is no slouch and i shouldn't need to upgrade anytime soon, the bump in clock rate is solely for bench-marking purposes, i have never seen any issues while gaming

i upgraded from a gtx 570 sc, so it was quite an upgrade for me

    I use a H110 and get a very comfortable 70 degC on prime95 @4.5GHz ( hard to get ivy bridge any higher ) I use a Z77 sabertooth mobo .

I must admit , the H110 is easier , as it has rubber hoses , and are much more flexible . I ended up laying my case on its side to fit easier ( no mean feat , its a Coolermaster Cosmos Ultra II , weighs a ton ! )

the H50 i have has rubber hoses too, but they are pretty stiff and go where they want, not where you want them too lol
thats a nice case, i have a sentey optimus, pretty light and cheap, but it gets the job done

I was lucky , got some money back from bank , so of course I suitably invested sensibly in a nice case LOL !
