Hello
When I go to sleep. I always Shut down the PC. But my usb mouse's (Zowie Mico) and the motherboard's (e760 x58 3xsli classified) lights stay on. And it is annoying because it lights up my room. I want it dark. I read in another thread somewhere that it is completely normal. But how do I make them go off when Shut down?
Thank you

What I suggest is that you get a power strip that has over voltage protection and an on/off switch. Ensure your PC is connected to the power strip. After you power down the PC turn off the power strip.

There is no other way to do it? My pc is connected to a surge protector with a power switch yes. But it is kind of behind my desk.

My E758 has done this since day one. The blue MB led stays on after system shutdown. Interestingly it would also power a pair of usb plasma balls and charge my cell phone after system shut down, but never power my old Naga or my G600. All MB I/O panel ports do this but I never checked the front panel as I never connected it to the MB as my case's front panel has a short in it and CM refused to warranty it.

Just got home and checked mine. Keyboard and mouse are both in the very top two usb's on the rear panel. All my lights go out on keyboard and mouse when I shut down.

ambidex Thank you all for your help But nothing seems to work Any other solutions? According to the manual for my E758, and I would say the E760 is going to be the same, the blue LED on the MB is the standby LED and will remain lit as long as the MB is getting power. Page 34 http://www.evga.com/suppo.../files/132-BL-E758.pdf If the light is that big of an issue then you can try to find something to cover the LED. For the USB the best I could find is to make sure "Wake by USB" is disabled, but there were not any responses as to if this actually disabled the USB power after shut down. From what research I could find this is an increasingly common feature on newer MB's that allow low power devices such as rechargeable mice and cell phones, to be charged after PC shutdown in order to save power. There is not any way to disable it as the power to USB ports is not controlled by the BIOS but is a part of how the MB power channels are actually built. So other than attempting sgtharry's suggestion of trying other usb ports your option would be to shut power to the tower after you are done using it.

For the mouse look and see if there's any configuration settings to disable the led's on it.

It is a zowie mico mouse. It comes without drivers. Like a plug and play mouse.

I stll think moving the surge protector where you can get to the on/off switch easily is the best solution.

I was going to suggest a remote controlled power outlet but, HeavyHemi's Clapper suggestion trumps it.

I'm actually having this issue on my E758 as well, and the only thing that works is cutting power to the PC at night. Wanted to see if the OP had any luck with his MB.

srtie4k But seriously, just reach behind the PC and flip the PSU power switch. That will cut power to the whole system.

Ok, obviously I understand that cutting the power works but I was looking for a more "elegant solution." My tower is in a position where it's a royal pain to have to climb under my desk every night. Is this a design issue with EVGA boards? I don't have the same problem with my ASUS Rampage on my other workstation. Thanks again for any help.

As I alluded to in my post, if you want a solution that doesn't require cutting power to the PSU for the LED, find a way to "cap" the LED, either with electrical tape or maybe with a vacuum cap (available at most automotive stores). As far as the mouse goes, it sounds like your motherboard is not actually fully off, rather its in a sleep state if it's still providing power to the USB devices. You might have Wake On USB enabled in the BIOS, which would provide power to the USB devices and allows you to turn the PC on from a mouse click/key press. Try disabling that, or check the sleep states to make sure the computer is not entering a sleep state on shutdown.

If you're using Win8 it will only "shut-down" into a hybrid sleep state, keeping your USB devices on - unless you use the script to disable the hybrid sleep state shut-down.

This is an old thread but not to google. "Turn on ErP control in bios." Doing this will stop power being supplied to USBs after shut down.
