I have been looking forward to the release of Modern Warfare 2 ever since they announced it was in development. I was in complete shock when I learned there would be no dedicated server files / support. This is a slap in the face to true gamers, PC GAMERS. The PC multiplayer side of this game will fail just like F.E.A.R. 2 multiplayer if they don't drop IWNET and release dedicated server support. As I am typing this over 144,750 people have signed the petition for dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 2. So the question is, will you still be purchasing the game if there is no dedicated server support? Do you think the petition will persuade them to add the dedicated server support?

They had to know this would cause major backlash from PC gamers, anyone with half a brain could see this coming. I think IW/Activision have their mind set on long-term goals. Here's what i think they want to do with pc gaming. - Get rid of free DLC
- Force gamers to watch streaming advertisements before connecting to a server
- Be able to pull the plug on MP after games been out 2+years (like EA Sports does)
- Allow mapmakers to sell custom maps but game developer takes 70% of the cut
They see all the $$$$$ signs they could be making by controlling everything. The only thing that will make Activision change its mind is a mass boycott of all its products. We would need all gamers (Console/PC/hand held gamers) to unite for that to happen. (yes that means not buying guitar hero 5000 or buying DLC for Activision games)

I for one will not be buying MW2. There are plenty of other really great games coming out, so I'm not going to be too broken up about it MW2.

I'm still waiting to see if Infinity Ward is going to respond to those who made them who they are today. Where would they be without PC gamers? Just give them what they want and they can keep IWNET also . The PC gamer should have been top priority imo. No disrespect to console players intended. It's just the truth.

The morals of people my age kinda worry me though, I've ask a couple of friend about it and they have said they totally disagree with what they are doing. Then I ask them if they are still going to buy it and alot of them said ya I prob will. And no I won't be buying the game.

Sticking with what you believe is right and supporting it with your actions? Do you think the petition will persuade them to add the dedicated server support? If Activision has any say they may not have any choice, but I do hope they listen to the community . It's not just a few that have voiced their displeasure.

Activision owns the rights to Call of Duty so they could force the developer to add dedicated server support. Watch this old cod4 interview, my how things have changed. guess they don't want the game to be as good as it can be on the PC anymore.

oh no, no dedicated servers? whatever will I do...... Personally I don't really care about the lack of Ded. servers, sure it's a chore etc and it would be good for them to be included but at the end of the day the game will probably be the best one out so far this year. you're only depriving yourself of a quality game for a point that will make 0 difference to the situation if IW's mind is made up. Infact further damaging sales of pc games isn't a real good idea to encourage companies to keep making games for pc but I get it, it's you guys call and you're more than welcome to vote with your money. personally I think it's funny how at least 60% of the guys saying they won't buy it will be the first ones out there picking it up on release day. I'm far more shallow. IW can do what they want, as long as the weapons are hot, the graphics good and the killing frantic and satisfying I really could care less. I'm just really excited about this and looking forward to it. it's all good though the more of you don't buy it, the more noobs there are for me to clean up! :D good times. (just to be clear I've signed the petition too but I will be buying for PS3 and PC.)

^ probably :D it's just shame that after all the work they put in listening to the fans that they sorta fail by not going with the dedicated servers.... I'm all over it like a rash anyway though. funny though I never really get any lag on the consoles version of Waw, there's an option where you can search for local game only and with that on the matches with lag in were maybe 1 in 200 ro so while playing. hopefully at the very least they'll be something like that kicking about in MW2.

The situation sucks about the ded. servers but I'm still going to buy the game. I love the first MW single player and have completed it quite a few times. Hopefully, MW2 will have an even more enjoyable single player experience. It's worth it to me.

MW2 will be about the same length on single player with multiplayer thrown in, but no dedicated servers. you don't wanna get it that's your call but the sane majority recognize that although not perfect it's still gonna be a dam site better than anything that's been out recently. enjoy whatever you're playing. I think your definition of epic and mine and two very different things.

Even if the online isn't so great for MW2 I'll still be playing that over WaW and it's crappy WW2 guns...money for old rope IMO. Sick to death of WW2 games. Does anyone know if treyarch will be doing ww2 BS for next years title or are they gonna man-up and try to do something else?

I'll be buying it. I'm pretty put off on dedicated servers any way. People crying about other players using features that are in the game. Nazi admins who kick and ban for players saying words that are in the game, admins getting butthurt because someone killed them and flaming and then kicking them. Then, when anyone complains they say "our servers, our rules". Yeah, that worked out great, didn't it ;) Sorry if I sound bitter, but I am. Clans have totally ruined multiplayer for me. I hope IWNET works out well and other developers follow suit.

I am sure that I will still enjoy this game, although not as much as I would have if it had support for dedicated servers. Without the dedicated servers I am going to get bored of the MP after a couple months just like I did with COD4 and World at War on xbox live. The only reason I still play games like TF2 is becuase I have favorite servers which I like to play in (EVGA servers ) otherwise I would have stopped playing that game long ago. So yea I will still get this game as there is nothing else coming out that I have been looking forward to, except Diablo III and I will probably die of old age before that gets released knowing Blizzard.

Call of Duty was made what it is today from the PC community, and now IW/Activision is dropping its pants taking a big crap on the PC community. Do you even know how much IW is gutting the PC version? I hope you own Xbox 360 and not the PS3, the PS3 is having features cut unlike the Xbox 360. - Max players 16 (No Dedicated Servers so you can't have 32slots or higher)
- No community made content (want new content must pay for DLC)
- No mods that will add value to the game and keep it alive longer
- No gaming communities or competitive play
- Sub-Par Anti-Cheat System (no screenshots or MD5tool to catch cheaters)
- Player hosting the game will have 0ms ping (his shots will always register first)
Microsoft and game developers already have consoles users where they want them, milking money from them every chance they get. If you have 5-10mins read this awesome open letter to Infinity Ward .
