Please help me with my issue...
I have a full retail CD version of Windows 7 Ultimate.
My plan was to install 7, then upgrade to 10 Pro.
This is a new build. I have a USB CD drive that I am using for the install.
The install starts, then I get the prompt:
"A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."Searching the net you can find numerous things to try. ** While making sure to only use USB 2.0 ports ** 1 - Canceling out of the Windows prompt, unplugging your USB drive, then plugging it back into a different USB 2.0 port. This supposedly makes the system re-find the USB drive, and after clicking install again, the error vanishes. 2 - Disabling SATA support in the BIOS, re-boot, and issue vanishes during Windows install... 3 - Download wintousb, make a USB install drive, from your retail CD, and when you run the install from USB, issue vanishes.... Well I have tried all 3 with no joy. Surely I cant be the first person who tried to install Windows 7 on a new build, and bumped into this issue. My system specs are in my sig, Minus the running Windows 10 Pro! If you hold the answer, please post it up. I am going batty!!
Is there any way to download a valid copy of Windows 10 Pro, enter your valid 7 Ultimate product key, and have it prompt you to upgrade to 10?
