It appears that Monolith studios listened to customer feedback and decided to kill microtransactions for its middle earth shadow of war game. It seems the microtransactions were taking away good experience with the game.

BS game publishers don't care about player feedback. They care about sales numbers and continuous revenue. This is an obvious attempt at them trying to mitigate a sales disaster they caused because they got too greedy.

perhaps if those who hate seeing micro-transactions speak up, we can see a turn around in the gaming community, perhaps there is still hope

    Examples?

I see the exact opposite. Micro transactions, loot crates, and additional paid content before a game even releases has become the norm. Look at every single Ubisoft AAA franchise game. You now pay $60 for freemium designed games.

Speaking does nothing. You literally need to stop buying the games and even then it's pretty much irrelevant because gaming isn't some niche form of entertainment any longer, even awful games like Sea of Thieves make massive returns if marketed correctly. Also the average gamer that just buys a game now days isn't the target consumer for the big publishers, rather it's the idiot whales that buy into micro transactions and spend hundreds of dollars on a single game. Look at the last Ghost Recon game for example. Literally just a single/coop player open world sandbox game. Then Ubisoft turned it into a micro transaction competitive PVP thing and were massively successful even though it's average player numbers for multiplayer were pretty low. They hooked some people into buying all sorts of cosmetics and unlocks and told everyone else to stuff it.

Probably something they are doing now the game is headed for the bargain bins. It’s not like we are talking about weeks after release but more of half a year. Probably they are not seeing the micro transactions and doing this gets good publicity for the older title.

Singleplayer games getting microtransactions is getting to be annoying. Next any shopkeepers in game you'll have to buy the items for real money.
