It was bound to happen. Windows Phone is essentially dead so only bug fixes and security updates will be done on the platform.

I was never interested in them. Samsung and iPhones are my favorites. Only phones I like.

it's a shame really, windows phones had some nice features, just the app market was sparse.

The other problem is the app market for a while had no quality control. If the app wasn't ported some poorly made app would be up with about the same name hoping people would buy it.

I had an old t-mobile dash that was a Windows phone. It was hands down the worse phone I've ever had, I'm only surprised this didn't happen sooner.

When phones have the power to run a full OS, it makes little sense to perpetuate a cut down OS for phones. iOS and Android are full featured operating systems while Windows phone was always a compromise from the start. It was less than it's parent OS. Most Chinese knockoff tablet devices dual boot Windows 10/Android.

I had the Nokia Lumia 920 Windows phone and it was a great phone had it about 2 years before the screen got broke and I was
Switched to an Iphone.  The 920 did everything I needed just fine with no issues I can remember (I dont really use many extra apps).

Certainly the lack of APPS and popularity however always signaled the eventual demise.
