So I parted out an old Gateway with a TV Tuner and the RCA jacks up front, rear FM attena the works, it was a Core 2 Duo E4400 however. I put in its place a Vostro 260 Mobo, it all wires up except the media bay but i don't have anything that fits it anyway so no loss, or the firewire again no great loss. So my question is down to the cpu, should i replace the Pentium G654 with something else, its purpose is watching netflix, pureflix, amazon instant video and acting as a DVR. OS will be Windows 7 Pro installed with the DELL image for the Vostro of course. Board will support up to an i5 2500. No intest in buying all new parts as its just a media computer.

Specs so far

PEntium G645 2.9ghz
16gb Ram 2x8gb DDR3 1333
500GB HDD
BluRay Drive/HD DVD
DVD-RW

Software
Windows 7 Professional
Cyberlink Power DVD12 Ultra (for bluray playback if needed)
K-Lite codec Pack
Windows Media Center

Something like an i3 CPU may be the best performance/practicality for that job with it being able to more efficiently handle any background tasks with the hyperthreading.  I5 or i7 would be overkill.  If you are looking to run 4k regularly, then that may require a dedicated GPU for the encoding performance, or something newer than 2nd gen Intel series but that would mean all new mobo, ram, ect.
