Massive Updates launched for Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 Enhanced Edition | OC3D News (overclock3d.net) The PC versions of Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale, and Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear have just received major updates on PC, upgrading all four games for 64-bit systems while addressing hundreds of known bugs and adding new artwork and voice sets for the games. Update 2.6 has arrived, and it brings some much-needed compatibility fixes to the Enhanced Editions of these D&D gaming classics. Update 2.6 depreciates the game's 32-bit versions while increasing the game's stability on modern gaming systems. Included with update 2.6 are seven new Character voice sets, including two from Mark Meer (voice of Commander Shepard in Mass Effect). Meer will be playing Alveus Malcanter and Baeloth Barrityl, who players can select as their hero. Alongside this update are 11 new character Portraits and new localisations for Baldur's Gate II, Siege of Dragonspear and Icewind Dale. More exact details are available on Patch 2.6's release notes. With update 2.6, these four RPG classics will become much more playable on modern systems, offering gamers a more bug-free experience as well as increased hardware compatibility. Further game patches are also in the works for these classic titles, though at this time, it is unknown what these updates will include. It's amazing in my opinion that so many games old and new are receiving patches and updates.

Another game series that is in my top 10 games of ALL time. Time to give them another playthrough since I did last about 10 years ago.

Releases like this always confuse me, because they have to have a team actively working on a title years after release. That's got to be a labor of love as I don't see them making much money off of that sort of move. It's definitely consumer friendly though.

BG1, BG2 and Icewindale series are the holy trinity of turn-based RPGs. Just as good as they ever were - the newer games within that genre often lack the same depth.

+1.... this is awesome. These with NWN are probably in my very short top list. I grew up playing D&DA 2nd and the D&D pc games, Pool of radiance,Eye of the beholder, etc.. , so when these all came out and were so good i couldnt ask for more at the time. Oh god, please dont ruin these games guys!

I am really happy to hear about this as Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale and Planescape are all amazing games that I loved when they came out. It would be nice if updates to Planescape happened but right now I am really happy with this announcement since the Enhanced Edition getting a major patch makes these classics much more enjoyable on a modern system.

This is awesome. I played these games a lot when they came out. I bought the enhanced editions as well, but I hadn't played them again yet. Sounds like a good reason to get back into them. edit - accidentally posted twice. I don't know how to remove the duplicate, so if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

This is awesome. I played these games a lot when they came out. I bought the enhanced editions as well, but I hadn't played them again yet. Sounds like a good reason to get back into them.

I have some mixed feelings on start, but they're mostly because I thought it would feature more modern gameplay innovations. Gameplay-wise it feels a lot like the old BG games. I haven't gotten far, but the story seems solid. Important to note it's still early access.

Are labors of love really that confusing? And as long as there is enough interest... It's also easier than creating a new game entirely. Might also catch attention of new generations of gamers that otherwise could fear compatibility issues.
