A man is being summoned to appear in court in Washington after breaking into Valve and stealing over $40,000 of games and equipment. According to local news station KIRO 7, 32-year-old Shawn Shaputis already had six warrants out for his arrest when Valve brought burglary charges against him in September. He has since been captured on camera selling stolen games at a Game Stop.

Should he fail to appear in court, another warrant will be issued. Police say Shaputis is the same suspect who stole a FedEx truck in July of 2018 and was caught, just one week after being arrested for a different string of burglaries.

This guy sounds like a real winner.

How could you physically steal games from Valve ??  It's not like they have put anything out in quite some time.... physically or digitally.

I could see them having some consoles and arcades around for relaxation. Probably even some VR headsets and gaming PC's. I wouldn't be surprised to hear Gabe has some office with like a copy of every NES game ever released in it or something crazy like that.

He reportedly stole more than $42,000 in total from the developer, including video games: 15 Xbox One games and 23 PlayStation 4 games. Shaputis told police he stole “15 to 20” Asus laptops, some Nintendo Switch and Steam machine consoles, and “a metal mini gun looking thing” that he said he saw Valve CEO Gabe Newell holding in a Forbes magazine feature.

Had 6 warrants.. issued a 7th... they actually think/expect him to show up and proceed to state that if he doesn’t, an 8th warrant will be issued... not to mention that GameStop has been receiving/purchasing stolen property, so they could go for that as well.

I highly doubt he shows up.

I just wonder if Valve said it was $40,000 what GameStop gave him for if. Do you think it was enough money for lunch at the food court and to cover gas?

    Some people's hobbies...

What I wanna know is how does one walk out of Valve with $40k of anything? I mean, $40k in "games and equipment" isn't just one handful of stuff.

Could be a server rack worth $20K-$40K or something and maybe he took some T-shirts and collector items on the way out.  Who knows...lol

Nonetheless, this dude needed his 'fix'.

Or what he grabbed are limited editions, signed copies, very rare special runs, engineering samples of hardware, creator discs for new games that aren't out yet etc.... it could get to 40,000 pretty quick if that's the case. What a moron, he had to be "out of sorts" well say cause everyone knows that ups/fedex etc... track there trucks movements and selling the things at gamestop?!?!?? COME ON now.... really guy???

Probably wasn’t a server rack unless he knocked over a few places.

Steals from Steam, tries to pawn at Gamestop. Sounds like a meme in the making.

Pretty smart to head to Gamestop... He gets 1% of what the games are really worth. However, someone with a record like his obviously is not the wisest person around...
