https://www.overclock3d.net/news/software/msi_accidentally_leaks_amd_s_planned_64-core_threadripper_cpu_via_trx40_video/1 Yesterday, AMD officially announced its Ryzen 3rd Generation Threadripper series of processors and their TRX40 motherboard platform ( more info here), revealing a staggering generational leap over the company's existing Threadripper series lineup. Alongside this announcement, MSI officially revealed a range of new TRX40 series motherboards, including its Creator TRX40. Within a video for this motherboard, MSI accidentally announced AMD's plans for its TRX40 platform by showing Windows 10's task manager with 128 active threads. That means that AMD has a 64-core Threadripper processor on the way. AMD has teased that its TRX40 platform is scalable, but they didn't announce that it was scalable to high core counts than its 32-core Threadripper 3970X. That said, AMD's last-generation Threadripper flagship was the Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX, making it possible that a 3990X/3990WX is on the horizon. MSI has since removed and re-uploaded the video which included the 128-thread image below. This image was quickly captured by WccfTech. Well I think we all know that a 64 core Threadripper is indeed coming. Most likely January 2020.

Is it a Server grade 64 core ? No PC needs that many cores ... my 8 core is not even managed correctly by Windows 10 .....

Oh come on. Where is your computer progress spirit? Here we finally after 10 years of stagnation are making leaps and bounds in the desktop power space and we keep having nay sayers like yourself telling everyone to slow down, no one needs that much. Give me a brake. I won't be buying one at launch, but you can bet I'll have a 64 core a year later on Black Friday.

The 32 core is 2000 dollars so imagine what a 64 core would cost

Both AMD and Intel are pushing multi-core CPUs.

Cool GTX The POINT is .... We NEED Microsoft to step up their Game so theses large core counts are actually useful & Not just eye candy & bragging rights

I quite agree with that.... M$ has to get it's manure together to get win 10 to actually be able to use that many cores.... so do programmers in games (like what most don't use 4 cores) - like use what you can for AI and ray trace The problem is M$ likes to make $$$$ from how much software it can sell and they do that on the basis of 1 chips to OS- they use to regulate that by core count - can't do that any more if we keep pushing core counts up rapidly a blade server that has sixteen 4 core xeons that you get license fees for 16 software licenses is now replace by 1 chip = thats 1/16 of the revenue coming in now oh sure you may get more than 1 chip - but you won't look to get 16 of them - unless you really want a supercomputer- but nowadays you can rent Cloud power(AWS) for projects when you need them and keep a smaller footprint in any event M$ is not gonna make $$$ the same old way Bruno747 Oh come on. really??? what kind??? Disk or Drum???? and why would you need that??? slowing down progress is not like slowing down a car

Hrrrm, I imagine one of these cutting through orthomosaic computation from quadcopter footage like a knife through butter. Some things are better with multi-core workstation use.

I don’t think that it’s was an accident. No way MSI wouldn’t have multiple people looking over that video to realize the mistake.

That is awesome to hear. I like the honest truth of tech not the lies and cheap sales pitch like Nvidia.
T hose who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way. Affiliate Code: 3T15O1S07G
