I have several EVGA 1600 T2 PSUs, all in different computers for my business, that have been running 24/7/365 since I bought them ~2013/2014 & NEVER had the power turned off & they have never failed me in all that time.  I have several EVGA 780 Ti, 770, 2070 FTW3 running as well 24/7/365 & they also have never failed either. So what does that tell you about the quality?

I've always leaned towards Seasonic for PSU's, but given my affiliation to other EVGA products I may give a PSU a shot next build.

What I really find funny nowadays, is all the idiots that will spend $$$ thousands of $$$$ on their system components (RAM, CPU, GPU, Motherboard, NVMe SSD, 4/6/8/10 TB drives) but they will scrimp/cheap out & only buy an 850 W PSU. PURE IDIOTS!!!

If they bought an EVGA 1600 T2 PSU, it will future proof all future builds & outlast ALL their future upgrades for 10 years or longer :o) ~$300 extra is worth it in the long run over 10+ years investment wise.
    1600 T2 = $579.99 USD
      850 T2 = $279.99 USD

The 1600 W PSU will run far more efficiently than an 850 W PSU that is maxed out or near maxed out from an engineering POV. We've proven this for the last 50 years. Buy the largest PSU for future proofing & it will last forever on all your builds. I've never had a top of the line EVGA, Seasonic, Corsair, Enermax fail so it pays to buy the top wattage up front.

I liked the older G series, and have a G2 atm. Haven't tried anything new but they have always seemed solid.

I have always been Corsair for PSU's over the years, even had one fail on me and the RMA process was very smooth. But seriously considering a 1000W+ G2 when stock is more readily available.

I have been waiting for something in the 1200W range to come into stock but right now I can work with only a G3 850W. It’s been a great power supply and my reason for upgrade would be to move to something Platinum rated.

How are EVGA's when it comes to noise levels? I couldn't tell if they have a silent line of PSUs, and I want an extremely quiet one to replace my current PSU that ramps up like a jet engine nowadays.

Re: Love these power supplies 2021/06/04 23:45:25 (permalink)
With my first build (Intel i5) I had a Corsair psu.  It failed within months.  So I decided to go with another brand.  I was recommended EVGA.   So I bought an EVGA psu while the Corsair was RMA.  After some months, I finally got the replacement for the Corsair, but EVGA psu was still going strong (that was in 2016 and it still working just fine).  So I gave the Corsair psu to my brother.  I have built 2 more computers (the intel went to my husband).  For my son I built a ryzen 2700x with EVGA 650w P2 (he updated it this year to an EVGA 850w P2) and for myself, I built ryzen 3900xt with EVGA 650w p2.

My pc tower is next to me.  I've had the same psu since 2015 (EVGA 650w P2) and I have never hear it.  I can hear my case fans but that's it.  Sometimes I can even hear the cpu cooler fans, but still no noise from the psu at all.  EVGA make some really good power supplies.

I gave up on Corsair when I built my son's pc and the psu had failed.  I was told to get EVGA, and never looked back.  I have two computers that have had the same EVGA power supplies in them since 2015.  (i had rebuilt my computer (i7 to ryzen 9) and I changed all the parts except for the power supply .. that's how good it is).

All of my psu's are Platinum rated.  It's a good series.  Have 2 of them since 2015  (I have 3 computers).   I haven't tried Gold, but not going to switch since I've so much good luck on what I've had so far.

I have several EVGA 1600 T2 that have been running 24/7/365 since they first came out with ZERO issues & they are quiet. No noise whatsoever. You can't go wrong with the T2 for future proofing.

I don't mine, never have & never will.
T2 is Titanium & higher quality than Platinum.
I have been running my successful business for 45+ years & none of my EVGA products have ever failed me. I have several systems with GTX 770, GTX 780 Ti, RTX 2070 FTW3 that have been running 24/7/365 & not one issue so far & most likely never will. That is testament to EVGA quality.

I use P2 series.  Run the computers 24/7.  Do you think there is a big difference between the T2 and the P2?   wanting to know since I need to buy an 850w when I get my 3070 (whenever that will be).

An EVGA tech may be able to offer you more details but I have always went with T2 over P2 for endurance, quality, longevity, performance.

The difference in cost for your proposed 850W PSU is $239.99 for P2 vs $279.99 for T2. The extra $40 is worth it to get the T2.

Good discussion about PSU efficiency here in this thread.

I personally have never exceeded the platinum series of PSU's and the majority of mine are golds.

I started buying Platinum series 1. because of the efficiency and 2. because I always had issues with bronze/white level psu's.  I guess I could have gone with Gold series but I wanted top tier.

In all honesty what is the draw to these power supplies in particular? I was team Corsair all the way but from how little I actually see it etc I kind of want to try a cheaper alternative next time .

I think my draw to EVGA was their reliability.   I've had Corsair (that lasted a few months), Cooler master (lasted about 3 years) and some other brand that wasn't that good.  EVGA has lasted in two computers since 2015.    I'm sure Corsair is good, I guess I just had a first time bad experience with them.  Corsair customer service is pretty good.  I got my psu replaced, but I gave the replacement to my brother.

LMAO. So much misinformation here. 1600w PSU is not at all more efficient than 850 watt unit unless it's a higher rated unit. In fact it's worse at lower loads since it will sit below 20% load when people are not pushing their rigs like gaming. I expect even those EVGA 650w G2 that I bought years ago to last at least 10 years. My old Corsair (Seasonic OEM) lasted that long, and could still be running. Your an engineer? I find that hard to believe. Engineers usually sit quietly working on stuff. They deal in facts. Marketing, on the other hand, they love to upsell, and make bold claims without any proof.  They deal in hyperbole, and stay firmly in that gray area.
