Yea, I been telling people don't sleep on MSI. They had the best power delivery on the 3090s as well.

The Suprim X is my top pick right now.

I suppose it'd matter for LN2, but from the reviews that I've seen they all seem to cap out just at 3,000MHz anyways (for an additional ~4.5% score increase...).

For gaming and even watercooled overclocking it will hardly matter. The reference VRM on these cards at base is massive overkill for anything but exotic cooling and well below sub ambient overclocking. Just like the ridiculous 16+ phase VRMs on most motherboards today, no one needs that for a gaming rig, but they have to tick some boxes and brag about specs somewhere.....

More phase's does not always = better.

True.  DerBauer's Aorus findings reinforces the same nVidia design limitation as the previous 3090 series.  Power limits and silicon lottery is still the main factors over air cooling.  I think the SuprimX looks like the best all-around option for the price.  Aorus and Rog Strix are not worth the extra cost since the Ti should be around the corner.

Had the Gigabyte in my cart but I'm waiting for the MSI and the future Ti variant.  Looking very promising for 4K120 as the baseline.

Glad I didn't order some other card today. Still looking for a suprim x. =)

Agreed on the MSI Suprim X. If i was going for a 40 series the Suprim would be my pick as well. Being its the best looking 4090 IMO is a bonus too. Second choice would be the ROG Strix but only with a water block on it. No way i would put that card with it's god awful red & blue cooler in my case and let people see it lol.

Yeah, I agree the suprim x looks the best imo. It’s priced slightly higher than fe at 1699 vs 1599, and is cheaper than the strix at 1999, but pretty much performs equally with the strix in cyberpunk 2077. Strix at 74.5 fps vs Suprim at 74.3, and fe at 71.2 fps.

Funny thing is I can see the strix has been scalped on ebay, and so has the suprim x liquid, but the air cooled suprim x isn’t anywhere to be found like it didn’t ever come into stock.

Yeah.... two extra phases versus like a third again additional chips on the ASUS card. Half the surface pads are not even populated on the MSI, while ASUS put polycaps in half and the better SMD caps on the other half. And then more SMD caps everywhere else. Of course, ASUS is charging $300-400 more for their card though on the flipside...

The general rule in life, is that bigger is better.

Joking aside, I don't see how smaller is better when we are talking VRM/power delivery even when talking stock GPU performance.  It just means better system stability and power delivery when the system components need it.  We all saw what happened with system stability and underpowered VRMs did in the 3090's.  Glad to see how MSI understand the importance.  I'm sure 4090's will be much more thoroughly tested in the coming years, so why limp in?

Friday or Monday I must receive the suprim x, I'll tell you what's up sajin 😀.

I hope that soon it can be flashed to another bios, maximum tdp in suprim x is 520w vs 600 fe

This is what's wierd, I followed card supply from newegg pretty much every minute from 6 am launch to 9. I did not once see the surpim x card show up, tons of liquid and trio cards though.

I had the Suprim X in my cart and almost checked out with it at 9:01am EST but decided to wait a few more mins and see if a MSRP card would pop up. Both the ASUS Tuf and MSI Gaming Trio popped up a few mins later so I went with the MSI for $1599.

Exactly. I think there is actually one air cooled suprim x on ebay now that is currently being scalped. It's the only one I've seen on ebay.
