I set up something like this using an old 6" Amazon Fire tablet and AIDA64 software (awesome hardware monitoring software), because there was just nothing on the market specifically designed to do it. Now Lamptron (famous for their fan controllers) are releasing a monitor specifically for this purpose. Definitely worth a look. I'll very likely buy it as soon as it's available.

Here's what I was able to do with the Fire tablet, only problem was the screen would dim after about 15 minutes (maximum setting):

I'd be interested on that Lamptron display even though I have enough screens for monitoring currently but that would actually free up my desktop space for other things.

Anyhoo, well done on that DIY Nereus but unfortunately I'm not the programmer type.  I've seen throughout the years some DIYs with small displays for monitoring their systems builtin their cases.  Always found it intriguing to say the least.

P.S. - I still got my Lamptron FC5 V2 like new collecting dust somewhere. lol

Those were pretty top notch back in the day, especially for those voltage controlled fans while PWM controllers and hubs were still missing other than one's single CPU PWM header that was limited to 1 Amp.  I'd still say those are still great controllers if someone needs one and has the space for it.

It's arrived at FrozenCPU.com but it's not cheap at $119.99, considering the 7" Amazon Fire tablet is less than half that price, but there are definite trade-offs using the Fire tablet.

I have ordered one but it'll take a few days to get here (delays with Xmas/New Year holidays). I'll set it up probably in the New Year and write a review here. Looking forward to trying it out - Lamptron have always had pretty solid gear.

Just think if a company made a mini version that came with adhesive stand you could place on a keyboard or desktop. Would be a hot item for under $75.

There is - a little 2.8" and a 3.5" one - check this out.     Made for GOverlay, but also works with AIDA64, Rivatuner and more.

Can't get the lamptron 10" version to work very well. Instructions seem outdated to me. Changed resolution to 1280x960 from the recommended 1920x1200 and it came to life, but I can't figure out how to get the hardware data to display via AIDA64 correctly. Anyone know of a tutorial on this? Use Rivaturner instead? Thanks!

I have it running through AIDA64 now fairly well. I don't think the instructions match this unit as the resolution is not correct in the instructions, but it's working now nevertheless. Next problem is how to get the screen saver to apply only to my primary monitor. I would like the hardware monitor to stay on all the time. Don't see a setting in windows to do that.

The Lamptron 10" version I think uses 2560x1440 native (surprisingly), so just scale down from there using the same ratio. I have not had time to play with it recently, hopefully after the Z590 systems come out and I have a longer term rig built, I can get into it then - it's quite time consuming setting it up, depending how OCD you are lol.

There's two methods to set up the display in the AIDA64 > File > Preferences menu. You can use SensorPanel (which seems to be more popular) which creates a 'box' on your screen (you can set the dimensions) which you can drag around or drag to a 2nd monitor, or you can use LCD which you set up and can view in a browser window with the IP as the address - there are some limitations to the gauges on this option (bar graphs only really), but I kind of like it better as that's the method I'm used to, and was great when I used a tablet for my display and just opened the browser window via IP through the WiFi router.

Basically it's trial and error, took me quite a bit of time to learn, and then figure which sensor items in AIDA64 matched up with which items in your system. There are a heap of sample ones you can download from their forums though (might have to register first to view that link):
    https://forums.aida64.com/topic/667-share-your-sensorpanel/page/21/
There's also a guide here which can help:
    https://www.aida64.co.uk/knowledge-base/how-create-fully-customized-sensorpanel-aida64
But yeah, mostly trial and error.

Thanks again. I’m just going to play with it as time allows. Still having trouble getting the lamptron monitor to stay on when my screensaver kicks in on my primary monitor. Any solution to that?

I haven't had that problem, at least not with the 7" Lamptron monitor which I used for months. I disabled sleep on my PC though, so perhaps that is the issue? In Windows settings I have the power plan set to turn off the main display "never", same with hibernate, although the main monitor itself still has it's own time out period. I have not spent much time with the 10" Lamptron monitor yet, and when I have, it's been active the whole time.

Ohhh I see what you mean, I misread and thought the Lamptron was not coming back on when you started using your PC again - my bad.

My Lamptron just mirrored whatever the main monitor did, as it is basically just an extended monitor, so if I went afk and the main monitor went to screensaver, so did the Lamptron. The only way around that was to have no screensaver, no sleep, always active, which impacts both monitors ...probably not a good idea on your main monitor because of screen burn in.

When I used a separate tablet for my AIDA64 display instead of the Lamptron, I connected to an IP in a browser window over local WiFi, that way I was able to keep it open 24/7 with tablet display settings regardless what the main monitor did, but yeah, you'd need some separate software to change the behavior when it's set up as a 2nd (extended) monitor - at least until Windows adds the functionality to change that behavior (if they ever do).

One other thing I just remembered - with SensorPanel you can't use animated gifs at all, with the LCD option you can, but the trade-off is that you lose the really nice gauges that SensorPanel has.
