Guessing its only per product.. So you could buy 1 of everything if you wanted I guess.

Yeah it's 1 of each model sku, so you can buy more than 1 gpu. The 3090's will be limit of 2 per sku since they are nvlink capable.

It should have been a limit of 2. I know that supply might be short but it still should be something against scalpers when it comes to if the limit was 3 or more. I really want to have two 3080s if that's any better than just one 3090. I do play games but it's mainly for rendering and I still don't really know how to best make use of $1500 on just GPUs.

The 3080 won't be able to run in sli/nvlink though only the 3090's will.

That I know, I'm mainly after rendering which I know can use multiple cards just fine, but when it comes to gaming one should be enough.

For rendering workloads you could get cards built for that purpose. Tesla for example. Or the upcoming Quadros.

The performance per dollar drops off drastically with the higher end cards depending on what software you use. In other cases to get something significantly faster than several high end gaming cards costs as much as buying a new car.  People buying gaming cards for 3D rendering usually don't have the budget to spend $6000+ on a single GPU.

In some rendering benchmarks, the 3080 already beats the $2500 24 GB Titan RTX by 30-50%.  The Quadro RTX 8000 is basically a Titan RTX with double the memory and costs $5500.  The current Quadro RTX 6000 is basically a Titan RTX.

Also, we will need to see what the performance is on the upcoming Quadros compared to the 3080 and 3090.

I do believe you will be able to buy one 3080 from EVGA directly, not per SKU. You can buy another from any other e-tailer that has it available.

Unfortunately, the buyers can’t scream “stop the scalpers but don’t limit me while you stop them”. Either they slow the scalpers or they sell everyone the cards they want.

People will already be all over the forums screaming bots and scalpers are stealing the cards right away, and that is with a limit.

EVGA has a lot going on, as they launch these cards. In the past, they have limited one per series in the way I described and people threw a fit while blaming bots for stealing the cards.. that is one of those made up internet stories that have no way of being shown to be true.

EBay listing hold no water for sales. If people resort to eBay, that is their own choice and fault. Don’t feed scalpers and then complain that they came back.

If its not true, then why are people posting screenshots on twitter of all the 3080's they bought with bot purchasing software????   I saw one earlier today where one person bought 18 3080's and had 40+ more in his cart on various sites.
