Considering that this pertains to the 2019 LG OLED displays that were not sold with the G-Sync chip, and the G-Sync they are referring to in the article is acquired through a firmware update; it is reasonable to assume these displays will only meet the G-sync compatible standard.  I assume it will be as good as if NVIDIA launched cards with HDMI 2.1 and users were utilizing the VRR and ULL through that method, which is what I was planning on.  I cannot wait to someday test out both methods to see if there is any difference.  This could be a major blow to Alienware that are launching their insanely expensive OLED gaming display, when users can choose the upcoming 48" LG OLED for a much cheaper solution, or go with the current 55" or 65" LG OLED at a much cheaper price with HDR and Dolby Vision which Alienware lacks.  I suppose RGB lighting comes at a premium, right Alienware?

Does anyone know if G-Sync compatible displays cover HDR gaming while maintaining G-sync?  I dont think so as the HDR G-sync chip is the most expensive and qualifies for the G-sync ultimate tier that specifies the requirement of that HDR G-sync chip.
