Very very thankful for that EVGA But now I have a predicament. I have only built on the consumer line of intel. Currently I am using an 8700k and a z370 motherboard. Ironically my asus board is kind of busted right now. So where do I begin? What is the most cost effective x series chip? I can't conceivably drop 2 grand on a 7980XE... Should I hold onto it or sell it and go with another z370 or z390 so i don't have to upgrade my processor? For some reason that wouldn't feel right. I am in school for computer engineering, but currently I have no application for a computer with the technical specs of something that would utilize an X series cpu effectively.

Since you're already on a current architecture, I would just sell the board for some beer money

I would say go for a 7820x, 8 cores and clocks up to 4.3 stock, can't go wrong with that plus the x299 platform being an enthusiast chipset, will allow you to upgrade to a better chip years down the line when they come down in price.

Agreed, sell it. You're siting on one of the best platforms and cpu already.

I'm more inclined to endorse this recommendation

When does the Micro 2 go up for sale and what is the price? EDIT: To be clear, I meant the board in general. Not his.

I'm a bit late as well, but I personally have a 7820X. I love it, however it does get hot so keep that in mind for cooling! I ended up delidding mine to help keep the temperatures down w/ watercooling. If you feel you won't utilize a CPU like the 7820 or similar much, you could always opt for the i5 X299 processor. If I am not mistaken, it is a 7740X or something like that. Congrats! -Jacob B.

Congratulations on the win.
I kind of have to agree that I would go with a food processor and build a nice little system. It really depends on what you want to do with the system but I could see a lot of great uses around the house for a secondary computer.
