I just ran some basic tests and decided I would share the numbers for anyone interested.

The card was straight out of the box.  I didn't install precision X or Afterburner.  I don't overclock my GPUs and don't like running third party software.  I used three separate 8 pins from Corsair RMx 850.
I left the switch in the normal position.  I got the numbers from logging GPU-z in different games and benchmarks.

First observation is the card is beautiful I thought the RGB would annoy me but I think it looks great.
Second observation is the card is quiet.  There is barely any coil whine and the fans on the default settings were pretty quiet.

Temps:
Max I saw was 74C
The fans come on at around 58C.

Power:
Total Board power Max I saw was 380W.
PCIe connector Max around 45W
8 Pin #!  Max 125
8 Pin #2  Max 142
8 Pin #3  Max 65

Voltages the max I saw was 1.081 when playing Control.

Power balancing is definitely a little nuts but as long as my PCIe connector stays in spec I guess I'm ok with it.
I could definitely see how this could irritate OCs though.

Clocks:
Max 1950
Average 1905-1920.
Low 1860 only happened during Timespy.

Timespy at default settings gave me and 18000 Graphics score.

Overall I'm very happy with the card.  I just hope I don't run into any problems like some of you other guys have.  I'm sure I could get a little more out of the card if I wanted to OC but I don't think its worth the trouble for gaming.

I hope everyone gets there cards soon.

i guess that means that the voltage controller fix is not in yet

^^^^ Yep I have the same "borked" PCI-E #3 Plug....this is whats restricting the Card to never get above 395w.....once I saw a total Board consumption of 400w....but that pesky PCI-E #3 plug is a drag and yes Im an OC'er on full custom water loop!

Sorry man that really sucks.  I don't think they are ever gonna fix it at this point.  Does anyone have PCI #3 that works correctly or are all the FTW3s like this?

Why do you say this?  Is it because you think our cards are ticking timebombs?  I usually don't keep cards more than 3 years anyways.  I'm still hoping next gen maybe we can run raytracing without using dlss at 1440P.

I tested my 3080 FTW3 at stock 380w the other day, it was something like 112/125/100.

Edit: running it again right now, 110w/128w/96w with 40w PCIe and 377w board power.  That's HWiNFO average, polling about once a sec, 51C, stock settings, 82% fans.

132w/146w/118w with 49w PCIe and 444w board power.  118% setting, 58C.  449.8w max, HWiNFO at low polling frequency doesn't usually catch peaks, but X1 HWM shows 122% max.

Furmark 2560x1920 2x MSAA.  90C mem junction, 72C hotspot.  Hybrid with PP fans and good case air flow.

No not all Cards are like this, thats the frustrating part is many folks can flash XOC Bios 450w and actually achieve this. So not all Cards created equally.
If I had know about this issue I likely would have continued to wait until I could get my mitts on a Strix Card.
Oh well,,,,card still seems to operate fine at 380w - 399w with decent boost speeds.

My card acts the exact same way. 120/130/70 etc. Port 3 is like almost 1/2 the draw of the others.

Yep same issue for me as OP and other commenters. Pcie 3 still not using full power or even close to it.

I'm also seeing "power limit" and 380W on a 450w bios....still no fix from EVGA. New rebar bios didn't fix it.

Where, when, and how did you get your 3080 FTW3 card?  Were you waiting in the EVGA queue or did you purchase it from a retailer?  These seem to be increasingly more difficult to get.

I don't think he's saying it because the cards are time bombs. IMO its a low-cost for additional insurance on a GPU that you may end up keeping for a long time. And now that EVGA has a way to transfer the remaining warranty from the original owner to the 2nd owner - it can greatly increase the resale value in the even you want to upgrade in the future.

    It's not so bad.

Me personally, the extended warranty has saved my skin on 2 dead 980Ti's that died within 2 years of each other. Having a warranty that expires in 2025 is not such a bad thing. Or in the case of a 30-series.... 2031.

Keep in mind, when you see posts about dead cards - thats all you're going to see, so you're going to see a skewed view of the failure rate of GPU's. This goes for any forum - no one hardly ever just posts a thread and goes "Hey my (insert product here) is working perfectly fine"

The overclocking headroom for ampere cards are so small sadly. Enjoy the card.
