If you have multiple drives going in, do yourself a favor and just install your primary SSD alone.
Saves you having to screw around.

Definitely a good idea to install just the M.2 drive at first then after you install Windows you reinstall any other peripheral drives you may be using. The reason for this is because for some reason Windows likes to install multiple partitions when installing Windows and sometimes it for whatever reason makes these partitions on other drives. You ideally want all your Windows boot information on one drive so only install the drive you want Windows on when installing Windows. No idea why Microsoft does this and yes it is very annoying.

Not hard to do really, not sure if there is a guide out there.
Basically turn off the computer and put the plug from the wall.
Ground your hands on the metal case or the PSU before you touch the drive and MB.
Install the Nvme card in the slot you want to use, there are two slots for that card.
As said, make sure it is the only hard drive in the system when installing Windows.
Make sure you turn on the slot you want to use in the BIOS.
Advanced menu, select, onboard device configuration and turn the slot on.

Page 34,35,36,54,55,56 of your MB's manual give pretty good instructions on how to install the drive.
Also this was in the manual. Page 56 has Set “Launch Storage OpROM Policy” to “UEFI”. Then set “Launch CSM” to “Disable”. Here is a link to the manual.

     M.2 Key-E (32mm) – x1 from Z490 PCH o M.2 Enable/Disable is set within the BIOS U.2 Lane Distribution
     U.2 (PU1) – x4 from Z490 PCH o U.2 Enable/Disable is set within the BIOS o This U.2 port shares lanes with the M.2 Key-M slot PM1. Installing a U.2 device will disable PM1."

Before using the mm2drive, open the case and unplug the sata ports from the drives leave the case open just a fyi once the windows installation is done you plug them back in and close the case.
Make sure in the bios you set the primary boot device the usb Windows installer and 2nd boot the new drive 970 mm2 drive.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.
