First off, this is my first EVGA purchase ever. So far I'm very happy, but I had a couple questions concerning the various model numbers of the company's 970s.
I bought my card (SSC GTX 970 ACX 2.0) today at Best Buy. I read online before I bought it that the 29XX models didn't have the memory and mosfet cooling plate, but the refreshed 39XX models do--more specifically the 04G-P4-3975-KR . So I looked up the model number for the version Best Buy sells and it's 04G-P4-3979-KB so I think, "It's a 39XX! It must be the refreshed 970 just with a Best Buy exclusive SKU!"
Wrong.
From what I can tell by examining and comparing the cooler heatpipe layout and power connectors of all EVGA's 970 models, the Best Buy 970
appears to be the first revision of the EVGA GTX 970 SSC or even a downclocked FTW. There's no mem/mosfet plate, dual 6-pin instead of 6- and 8-pin connectors, only one DisplayPort, and the heatpipes poking out at the back (front?) of the card are silver instead of the copper of the refreshed version.
So I guess my question is: is my 04G-P4-3979-KB really just a 04G-P4-2975-KR in 39XX disguise? And how much does the lack of the mem/mosfet plate affect overclockability and longevity? Should I return my Best Buy card and buy a for sure refreshed 970 with the cooling plate etc.?
Thanks in advance for the help!

EDIT: Weird, my links didn't show up. Updated with plain text model numbers.
