After reading several articles, and looking back on how the 1080 was released.. I get the feeling that Nvidia is starting to back off its partners.. This new Titan X, a consumer based product, is exclusively sold by Nvidia.. Stock for Founders Edition cards are routinely available, but not so much for partner cards.. Today, right now - I can buy an FD card, but to find an EVGA SC or FTW card is like trying to find big foot... lol.. tbh, I hope I'm wrong.

This is good news for me. I only game so i dont need the CUDA. When games start pushing past my vram on the 980ti's or I cant hit 100FPS with them @3440x1400 then i can grab cheap 1080's (they wont be a unicorn by then) or whatever happens to produce that result for me. I also think MDecker is right this will likely need to be Water cooled.

All of NVIDIA producer and professional offering are sold directly through their own store. It's just weird that now a clearly compute handicapped card is being sold that way. I could see the original titans that had full FP64 units enabled as producer given the extra horsepower. They must be desperate for the Financials to do this so soon. Launching so many products is part of why supply has been so constrained. They are producing 3 chips (maybe 4) at once is taxing for TSMC and using the same chip for both 1080 and 1070 is probably curtailing that chips production altogether.

I am still thinking about getting 2 of them myself but keep thinking that I would regret it later lol. But the difference in performance seems to be exactly like a old titan x vs the 980 about 33%.

For those that do buy it and want to Hybrid cool it.. If I were you, get on Amazon now and purchase that 980Ti Hybrid kit before they are all sold out.. Only $67.00 right now.. And the shroud has the proper 6+8 pin cut out.

I had two Titan Blacks and went to two Titan X's. I decided to try the 1080FE and after reading the news on the Titan X "Ultimate" I can't say what I think of nVidia to make life easier for the moderators but I'll stay with the 1080 till something considerably better breaks for the board partners.

Honestly, AMD needs to do so something. Nvidia has 0 competition. They can set these cards to whatever price they want until AMD, or better yet, a new competitor arrives.

Not very trusting of that site you listed as the source sometimes, also they had incorrect information saying that board partners with the stock PCB would be selling the card. EVGA has clearly stated that is not the case at least for them.

If a 1080ti does come out I think it will be closer to $850. I think the entire 10 series is going up $200 this year. This is because everyone went crazy and is buying the mid size chip 1080 for $700 when it should be $500. Just because the mid 1080 was faster then the 980ti it still does not justify the $150-$200 premium over the 980. They are both mid size chips. Yea Yea I know that at this time it is the flagship but still. Nvidia is not stupid, but in a way the customers are setting the prices. We had people selling 980ti's for $350-$450 on Ebay and Craigslist to pay $675-$700 for a 15-20% improvement. Nvidia sees this and realizes that they can price where they want. Does not help with no competition from AMD in this segment. I kept my 980ti hybrid because it clocks really well and there was no way I was going to pay almost $700 for a midsize chip card. Now the problem is if Vega does not hit a homerun I worry that the 1080ti will be priced at $850. Hopefully Vega does well and it forces the 1080 to drop to $500-525 which is where it should be now. Then the 1080ti can be priced at $725-$750. Seems weird that you can get a 55 inch 4k tv with HDR for $800 and a graphics card is $700.

MAD52 Maybe with this launch means 1080 Ti are closer? The past two high-end "Ti" cards only came as a preemptive strike against whatever AMD was planning as their flagship to attack the Titan variant. With this nVidia Titan-X Ultimate just now coming out (within a month), and every rumor of the AMD flagship known as "Vega" out to next spring 2017, don't expect the 1080 Ti that much closer.

I heard Josh Walrath in the recent PCPer podcast mention Volta is coming in 7-8 months or so, which is a lot sooner than I was expecting. If history repeats itself, the '80 Volta card will probably surpass this Titan X (Pascal) at a fraction of the price.

This is what is keeping from wanting to buy the new Titan X Pascal and the fact that EVGA won't be selling one (which i think is stupid and greedy of Nvidia).

Your thread is locked and nobody can post on it.
I realize that i was just telling people there is news out there and read it HBM2 is not avail til Aug/Sept and in LOW quantities so don't expect any cards based on HBM2 earlier than beginning of next year as for the story on board partners read that story again it never says that it refers to AIO systems - or OEM manufacturers only EVGA is not a maker of an ALL IN ONE system or a OEM manufacturer of a computer system - like Dell, ASUS that builds entire computers and may want an alternative cooling system or cover on the card - specialized water cooled system and such

At first I was tempted by the 1080 then when I saw the benchmark compared to the the 980ti I thought that it wasn't worth it. After the 1080 I was eagerly waiting for the next titan to be released. But the price jump is so high compared to the last titan. 1200usd is like 1575cad and this will be near 1700cad after tax and shipping !? 2000$ If I want to watercool the card wow... That just confirmed that I will never buy a titan. I will just keep playing the waiting game. In a few months we should get a new card for a fraction of that price that will be just as powerful or more. My 980ti sli are proving to be very profitable and this is going to be all need until next year for me.

It's not worth it for those that already have a 980TI. Period. Brains weren't used very much when they went to go out that far for a 20% improvement... All gung ho because of GDDR5X... (The comment below is a perfect example. LOL)

Viper453 I will drop the $2650 after tax if i can find cards that are available tired of waiting on faster cards :(
