Does anybody know if the Elite version of the 1080Ti FTW3 is just a different color paint job ??

Are there ANY Performance Improvements over the stock FTW3 ?

Are the Elite versions "binned" so there is a better chance of winning the silicone lottery ?

It seems like asking another $25 and waiting 3 MORE weeks for something as superficial as different painted plastic is asking a lot..... especially since we've been waiting a LONG time with other aftermarket cards being released back in March.

Anybody know anything about the difference ????

Just a different color is all. But probably not paint.
More likely the plastic can be dyed before being molded into the shroud.

Now I could be wrong on this but I have heard that the shroud isn't plastic, its aluminium.  At least that's what I saw in a review on youtube on the SC2  but who knows until somebody gets ftw3

Someone posted in another thread that he had called EVGA support and they told him that the shrould was made of metal, so it is quite probable that the info is correct.

Jacob stated when the "Elite" version was initially announced that it was just a color change on the cooler. Nothing more. Same clocks, same tests, same pcb, same everything, but not the same color.

So the backplate's color does not match the shroud's color except in the black version?

Heh... I'm sure RGB is great but I went with the reverse Oreo cookie and it's simple and effective.  If my PC were red on the inside I'm sure I'd have been a lot more interested in these cards.

Cool concept nonetheless.

Different color/shroud. That is the only difference.

Thanks for the clarification, Jacob !!

Two questions, if you don't mind.....

1.  Is the FTW3 shroud plastic or metal ?
2.  Are the FTW3 cards binned to help ensure higher quality chip than the SC2 or the founder's edition ?

Thanks !!!!

I asked this on twitter. He said ftw 3 shroud is technically plastic. Said to stay tuned about the elite shroud.

The only binning difference is the bios speeds.  EVGA does not bin them above stock clocks.  As long as the card runs at the specified clocks that they advertise for sale, they are sold as that card.

EVGA tests the card to verify it works with the bios it ships with and fans/sensors function properly.. There is no guarantee any card, of any brand, will out do any other series when it comes to clocks..  A founders edition may outperform an sc2, ftw3, classified, k|ngp|n or any other card, or any other card may outperform the other series.

stay tuned ??

EVGA has to have the answer on these simple questions .... the cards have been in production for months !!!

It certainly should not be a secret.

It seems that before asking elite members to pay another $25 and wait another 3 weeks this kind of information should be provide BEFORE elite members have to make the decision.

Especially for those that have May 1 ship dates...... the elite version decision to change the preorder has likely either passed or will pass today.

Ya I can't say I'm super happy with the level of communication/detail on my nearly 1600 dollar decision. With that much money on the line and no information I can't just gamble that evga will surprise us. There needs to be information so buyers can make a fully informed and educated choice... especially when we are considered elite.

"Through May 1" may be true for the May 8 preorder release ones.

But, those that have been told May 1 ship date the decision to switch the pre-order is probably going to pass today.

It is highly unlikely that EVGA could switch the exact same day the package is boxed, addressed and sitting at the shipper....

If someone doesn't care about the color then they don't have to buy the elite version. I don't really care, and it doesn't matter anyway because I'm putting an EK block on it, but there are people out there who go to great lengths (and expense!) to match or create a designed color theme and keep their entire machine color coordinated. For God's sake I've seen people complaining about the color of the LED on the logo. So yeah, even if it's just color, it doesn't mean there isn't a market for it. I applaud EVGA for giving their customers more options, and options to satisfy even those who are very particular about the color of what's inside their computer.

Awh crap !!!

After imbibing alcoholic beverages all night I've succumbed to the lure of matching the black/white color of my gaming computer.....

Just pulled the trigger on a White Elite FTW3.

Yeah, I know that it doesn't make a lot of sense since the only difference is a little white vs silver "trim" but it is what it is.

And, now there's no turning back - EVGA made me click a box agreeing that I understand that once I changed my pre-order to the elite version I was permanently giving up my pre-order slot for the regular FTW3.

Looks like it is now May 22 .... and another $25 outta the savings account !!!

I hope you enjoy it!

As far as looks go, I have to say the nickel/plexi EK block, with the conversion plate to only a single slot width that comes with the EK 1080ti block, this card looks really slim, and really badass. Not that I really care, since my computer sits under my desk with the open side facing a wall. And if I really cared what my machine looked like I wouldn't have a handmade wooden bracket literally clamped to the side of my case with the two 180mm fans and a giant radiator just hanging there, as you see in my profile pic. And yes, those are two pieces of paper towel wedging the Swiftech rad/pump combo that I'm still using (just that, though, my cpu and gpu blocks are both EK) in place in a space that was actually built for holding massive hard drive trays, and has no real mounting provisions for a radiator.
