Did they stop making them or something? Or do they have some type of contract with nvidia that keeps them from producing AMD motherboards?

Personally I would love to see what kind of AMD products they would offer. Right now the only two mobo makers worth anything are Asus and MSI (gigabyte just isn't for me).

Well I guess it certainly wouldn't hurt to write to EVGA and encourage them to pursue AMD motherboards again. I can't speak for EVGA but that is no doubt a marketing decision as well based upon customer need.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Just to add to rjohnson11, "Customer need" refers to a majority.  The cost to develop the product is divided by those who would get it.  If that number of gauranteed customers are too small, that pushes up the unit costs; and if that cost is too high = no sales.  Like rjohnson11 says, you may have to write a letter or get a petition going with more people who will (not just thinking about it or maybe)get an EVGA-branded AMD board.  Remember, it needs to be worth EVGA's investment to make it, not just yours to get one.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

That would be rather sweet. Given the fact that all other mother boards from other AMD board makers are just plain jane. A classified board for thuban 6 core cpu would no doubt when the hearts and minds of all amd lovers.

980a chipset would be good for EVGA. Let me put it this way, AMD cpu, Nvidia, and Nvidia SLI support.

    That would be awesome.

There arent too many good AMD motherboards right now IMO, but the new Asus Crosshair should be nice. And the new 890FX chipset should bring in a whole new set of motherboards.

I gave up on EVGA doing any current Phenom II capable entheusiast mobos long ago. I went with a Foxconn Destroyer last year in place of EVGA AMD vaporware. EVGA used to do some pretty good AMD mobos before Intel really started shining.

Only if EVGA purchased an SLI license for it too. Then again there is the SLI hack, but those things aren't spoke of here. If you can't tell already, I'm no fan of the software driver imposed SLI tax.

Well, I guess if Thuban is a big hit and AMD gains some marketshare then EVGA will probably consider making AMD mobos again. I guess right now they have their niche. However, I can't possibly believe they are going to make much money on the SR-2 board. That is such an enthusiast board, not sure how many people will actually own one.

I'm convinced it's not through customer opinion, that Intel motherboards should be made by EVGA, and Intel ones only. I'm more in tune with the idea that it was Intel's choice to do so. They've monopolized the enter processor market as of now. It's almost impossible to find a decent note book with an AMD processor, every single one has an Intel in it. Apple is also partly to thank for this, as they only use Intel processors, and they too have monopolized the computer market. A very very large and vast majority of people out there who are buying computers are going towards that direction, apple computers, and if they stay wit the PC format, they usually tend to gear towards Intel and ATI products only. It would be nice if EVGA could continue it's production of AMD motherboards, I highly doubt you'll encounter any profit to production losses over this for I will definitely be a buyer of your AMD motherboards and I'm pretty sure many others as well. AMD FTW.

And also, I'd like to know of a good EVGA AMD Motherboard that will be able to support a 9800GT SLI video card set up. Or just a single 9800GT SLI set up, I'm really not entirely sure which I'm going to go with yet. But any information would be nice, thanks.

Re:Is EVGA ever going to make AMD motherboards again???? 2010/09/14 14:55:09 (permalink)
This has been brought up before. It won't happen untill AMD can pass up intel in performance and show higher benchmarks. They are behind and EVGA is always trying to stick with the best at what is current. Simply put, unless AMD can pull some crazy performance with their next line-up, it's not going to happen. As things are right now, the i7's are above 20-30% better clock to clock than the Phenom II's. EVGA has always been about the best, and AMD simply is not the best at the moment.

With that said, eventhough they are not the best, I know many people that would purchase an EVGA AMD board over any other in a heartbeat. I believe it would be profitable for EVGA and I think we would actually get to see more performance out of an EVGA board than any other on the AMD market.

@ PCsFTW: AMD has plenty of laptops out there, the processors that Intel has for those netbooks are better and more powerful than what AMD has to offer. They are also out at competative prices per performance.

EVGA is now partnered with intel in the motherboard department, AMD also owns ATI both Intels and Nvidias compitition. We will not see an AMD motherboard from EVGA in a long time.

Okay, So I guess I'll just have to stick with the Nforce mother board series if I want to keep the AMD processors. Is it just me, or was AMD the first and for a while the only processor company that was making 64bit processors before Intel? I would just like to know the best rout to go with EVGA's mother boards to stick wit the AMD processors for a 6 - 8 gig of RAM and either 1 9800GT or a SLI 9800GT set up.

If your going to stick with amd an asus or gigabyte board may be your best option tbh.

Asus pretty much holds the best performance with AMD motherboards.

Yeah... AMD had the whole 64 bit processors before Intel... Back then they out performed Intel up untill the Core2Duo lineup came out and blew them away. Intel hit 65nm before AMD and it was downhill from there.

What processor/motherboard are you running at the moment?
