According to these sources, prices of 9th generation Core processors could be cut by a minimum of 10 percent, and a maximum of 15 percent, varying by SKUs.
There is a big difference between resellers/OEMs dropping prices and Intel changing the MSRP.  According to Intel's price list, last updated in May 2019, nothing has changed across their over 100 SKUs.  We have to wait for the next update to see the % decrease, if any.

In my personal opinion, Intel doesn't need to drop prices since the majority of their sales are through OEMs, and they still all pay whatever for contracts as long as they pass those costs onto average folks as premium prebuilts because they don't build themselves.

Yeah I'm still hoping. I recently got my hands on an ASUS Maximus XI Code, so I'm looking to put an i9-9900K in there and see how it runs. I have a lot of credit sitting with Amazon, so the 9900K is basically going to be 'free' either way, but if I can get it for $50-75 less, that's money I can use for something else.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

I can't believe. AMD will shred i9-9820X on peaces.
AMD 12C/24T for 499$ vs Intel 10C/10T for 999$...

I would not hurry to upgrade on AMD, position on market could turn for 2-3 months.
If Apple decide to install AMD CPU and GPU in their computers then you know how situation is serious.
They not jump just like that and have better information of us.
And for sure Apple is someone who think on longer period, not something to outperform their computers just like that for year.

It's good because older platform still work great for gaming.
I'm sorry because EVGA not made some nice X570 Classified motherboard.

Some rumors say that Intel successor, 10th gen is only 18% faster then Skylake cores.
Skylake cores are what people advice me to buy, i7-6700K/i7-7700K/i7-8700K.. all are same.
Difference is in names only and because Intel decide to launch new motherboards. We didn't see nothing new.
In same situation AMD would offer nothing, they would still sell i7-6700K or eventually i7-8700K with more cores... that's it.
People would use same motherboards and old processors. This launch of i9-9900K is to delay humiliation, not avoid, to delay.
Intel still didn't show up with rumors... Dear customers,....bla bla bla we prepare new processor, 10th Gen, faster 50% then Skylake....
No, they don't have.

If Intel continue to struggle AMD will show up and with DDR5 first.
Now you see that AMD is not user friendly like everyone thought. 1 year was enough to show up with statement We don't want to be budget option any more and Crosshair VIII hero cost double then Crosshair VII Hero.
You remember that Crosshair series was cheaper then Intel mainstream. Now AMD didn't increase price 50$, didn't offer same price as Maximus Z390, not even as Rampage VI Apex, they want to ask more for Crosshair VIII Extreme then for Rampage Extreme, at once.

Thanks for that list btw, I'll be watching closely for updates. Most recent update was 27th May, previous was 23rd April, so on that basis they are due for another update about now (even if the price remains the same).

Still no price drop on the i9-9900K ($484.99 at Amazon), and still no update by Intel on their CPU price list. Hrmm. "10-15% price cut" they said...

Amazon Prime Day(s) coming up on Monday and Tuesday, maybe they'll discount it then? I'm starting to wonder if TechPowerUp.com 'industry sources' were just trolling....

The original story was from Digitimes, from memory. I haven't followed the story other than from the margins, but since the original story I guess every article on the topic since then has been nothing much more than a retread. Personally I would be really quite surprised if Intel dropped their prices. They are still undergoing a production shortage, and demand has been high, allowing them to charge high prices. Plus they've not done so in the past. But who knows, maybe it could happen. I'm guessing like the rest of us!

Yeah I'm having my doubts about DigiTimes with another story sourced from them in the last day or so that sounds highly unlikely. Still no new price list from Intel, and Amazon didn't drop the i9-9900k price even over the Prime Day sale ..well it's $10 less atm, which is about 2% decrease lol.

yep, nothing in terms of real price cuts from intel...... but also they don't really have to since the AMD top processors are nowhere to be found for a month.!!!
