Intel is saying that it has found the root cause to the 13th and 14th gen instability issues. They state the issue is an incorrect value in the enhanced velocity boost algorithm. They are going to be providing new microcode which is supposed to resolve the issue.

Unless EVGA chimes in but I would hope we could get an updated bios with the new microcode, but I don't think we will. I know the Z790 boards are getting a new BIOS, but doubt it has this new microcode.

    That's funny. My 13900k hasn't had a single issue.

    Intel denies that it found the root cause.  Investigation continues.

    Oh wow, nice catch. Still think we should at least be getting microcode updates at the least.

    Mine has been a little disappointing. I don't run my preferred cores at 5.8 just 5.6 which has resolved my crashing issues.

    I've never overclocked mine, and it's been perfect so far.

    Sorry, corrected my statement.  Preferred cores, so 5.8ghz being stock for the preferred cores. Mine was crashing in that stock configuration. Dropping those preferred cores down to 5.6ghz resolved the crashing.  Voltage VID for 4.8ghz was over 1.4v and even delided it would get over 90c.

    My 14900K cooks even with the 'intel default' settings.  It's cooled by a 360mm AIO.  It peaks to 90c-100c but I don't notice it when it happens.  Just have HWMonitor open telling me I've hit those temps.  It was worse before with the original BIOS but since seems a bit tamed but still, never liked running a CPU above 80c for longevity reasons and this thing isn't even a year old.

    I've had locks up and a few blue screens since putting this system together.  Hope Intel does something to remedy this situation but not satisfied thus far.

    Guess I'm lucky. Only time mine gets into the 90's is when I run a asus realbench stress test on it. Highest I've seen with normal usage was like 80c.

    This is the problem that I've been having since February. Posted my issues to the EVGA forum here;

    It seems that Intel unlocked processors are not as robust as hoped. My old rig is still able to play games fine.
