Capable of 10 TFLOPS, or 10 trillion floating point operations per second. Or a small example would be that the CPU could process all of the data in 420 Blu-Rays in a second. Intel is obviously working on the very fastest advanced CPUs in my opinion for AI, high performance computing, and advanced search engines.

Intel don't know what to do now.
They can't escape from AMD no matter what they try.
In my country people are completely turned to Ryzen special 2nd generation and 2700X, he give performance of i7-6950X for 330 euro and 3 years warranty. When someone use 3840x2160 34-43" monitor performance are not so behind Intel.

Intel will start to die slowly, people start to wake up and become aware that nothing bad will happen if they replace their i7 and i5 who serve them nicely for AMD. If they don't launch next gen core they will be in problems.
I seriously think what to do when watercooling arrive. I will build X99 watercooling and than to see what to do.
First time I start to check performance of Ryzen and to compare, is it boost on 4.3GHz for all cores or only single core.
Intel will launch i7-8086K, he will give performance of i7-8700K overclocked with lower OC space and than what...
Ryzen 2 2800X with 10 cores for 450$. I would like to see what will be answer on that, when he give performance of almost i9-7900X for half price.

Good part of people who switch to AMD reason was performance dosing from Intel and high price during 5 years when they had time to make better distance not AMD to beat them for 1/3 of price.
Intel desperately need to shock customers with something very positive, nice price and good performance improvement. Because talking as "AMD for everything, Z370 only for gaming" become louder and louder. That mean if you have 3840x2160 monitor you don't need to think about advantage of i7-8700K or Skylake-X. Only two fastest i9 are better than AMD and that's not limited number of people. That part of market is so low that no one think about them almost.
    Desktop Processor for Xeon/Epyc Price.

The Stratix is not a mainstream chip. However, I agree AMD has put a hurt on Intel's mainstream market but have not persuaded me to switch, yet.

stick it on a card and use it for a gaming processor, intel might sell a few to the gaming community if the processor can do it well

AMD will not really hurt Intel for a long time. The biggest market Intel has are people who don’t really know much about computers. It’s easy for the average customer to want an Intel CPU and the same for business. They probably tried AMD in the past and really didn’t find the performance to be that great in the past and that legacy is going to hurt AMD for a long time.

I won’t say things can’t change in the industry. In the early 80’s IBM was what the consumer wanted. AMD would really need a lot of luck and great development to beat Intel. If Intel wanted though they probably could outspend AMD by billions on R&D.

It's actually the opposite. People that know computers use Intel, everyone else including the budgeters go AMD.

    Welcome back to reality.

We've had some great results with the Stratix 10 GX 10M FPGA Chip.
    Some calculators we've used: www.chipdocs.tk/post/chapter-2/
I would have to agree that of the FPGA's we've tested this has out performed most.
    Hope this helps.

Why are we resurrecting a 3 1/2 year post?  Necroposting is frowned upon.

My apologies Flint.  We are still using these chips and I came across this post and figured I'd comment that they are still very viable.

Don't worry about it, you had a good reason.

The forum went through a spam fest recently from new members and one of the favorites was to dredge up old posts to comment on, in some cases 10-15 years old.

Let me welcome you to the forums!  Depending on your interests, there is a lot of good information available here and members who will help with problems.

    Have fun.
