Intel CEO Brian Krzanich has stated in an analyst meeting (via MarketWatch) that Intel will be rolling out its first dedicated GPU sometime in 2020 – corroborating the leak that we reported on a couple of months back. This is the first official confirmation of the company’s dGPU ambitions and predicts the first year in history that we are going to be seeing three GPU players in the market – namely Intel, NVIDIA and AMD. Intel CEO: Intel will enter discrete GPU market in 2020At the same time, this quashes some rumors we had had been hearing about a possible 2019 release for an Intel graphics card. It typically takes around 3 years for a company to take a GPU from the drawing board to tape out – so planning to hit the 2020 window will be an ambitious goal for Intel – one that Raja Koduri will be front and center for. The reason I went with Nvidia back in the day was the superior driver support. They think 2020 for the GPU is aggressive, what about all the other support needed?

Don't expect a record breaking GPU from Intel in 2020. They will have to work they way up the GPU food chain.

I read when the second gen GPU releases, it should be similarly competitive.

competition is good for us,.... but somehow I am skeptical that this even worries AMD much less Nvidia.
I know Intel hired the ex-AMD guy to help them but still ..... Here's to hoping they put up some competition

I wonder what they'll 'accidentally' break so that Intel GPUs run better than NVidia or AMD with Intel CPUs.
