OK Broadcom is trying to buy Qualcomm and Intel wants to buy Broadcom. The US government is investigating the Broadcom proposal and Broadcom will probably move its headquarters to the USA to try and appease the US Government. I have no idea why Intel would be interested in such a purchase.

You guys have to read between the lines on this: ARM is a threat to x86 until Intel gains a lead is process lithography, that's why the versus didn't matter before. Think like a deFacto monopoly: They don't want to let any company get even fractionally close to taking marketshare. AMD caught them off guard, they wont let ARM do the same.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

    kind of moot

Trump blocks Broadcom’s $117 billion bid
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-switch/wp/2018/03/12/trump-blocks-broadcoms-117-billion-bid-for-qualcomm-out-of-national-security-concerns-a-highly-unusual-move/?utm_term=.d76464962ec9

so there is no Broadcom deal to take Qualcomm
therefore Intel has NO REASON to take Broadcom

I don't think that would work out as Intel would then have a monopoly in both X86 architecture and the worlds number 1 mobile ARM based chip manufacturer. I doubt the EU would allow it and probably the USA wouldn't allow it either.

the story was that intel wanted broadcom because of the qualcomm merger - because broadcom would have a monopoly

    https://wccftech.com/intel-broadcom-acquisition-offer/

it's not just the low power arm mobile that intel is looking at here - although that is a issue it's not the primary one
the primary one is communication wifi,Telephone - ie 4G 5G chips

both qualcomm and broadcomm have a diversified chip portfolio - so a merger to say the least would make it a big target
