Intel has reportedly split the launch of its upcoming 10th generation Core "Comet Lake-S" processor into two unusually distant dates, April 30 and May 27, 2020. It was earlier believed that the processors would be announced on April 30, with availability "shortly after," (read: within 10-14 days of launch). The launch is planned such that April 30 will only see product announcements - the processors themselves, motherboards based on Intel 400-series chipset, and OEM desktops based on the platform. Later on May 29, the processors, desktops based on them, and DIY motherboards, are expected to be available in the retail channel. May 27 will also be the date when reviews of the processors and motherboards go live.
 
Although this is rumor I believe the dates are correct.

    It's not a shock given the world events and I wouldn't blame Intel or any other company for a delay at this point since we haven't really seen anything like this in modern times.

    Rocket Lake launch might launch just in time for the holidays this year as I had read a couple weeks ago, but here is another source that makes a more milder suggestion that this might happen: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/future-hardware-releases/#rocketlake
    It makes Comet Lake a rather unwise purchase considering the much more significant gains expected from Rocket Lake with definitely less than a year to go from now.

    Laptop sales had a bit of a spike recently. But longer term, yes, it’s going to get very difficult to justify discretionary expenses.

    Some huge tech deals coming in about ~3 months
