Hi everyone!

Very excited to be here!
My 'new' SR-2 is coming, and I'm quite ready to install but I can't find the answer i need:
I know for sure that SR-2 is running well under Windows 10 PRO... Read here and asked to many users, but everyone I asked for, just upgrade the OS and never done a 'clean' install... So my question: anyone tried? I' would like to do with a bootable USB that I've already done.
The other thing I can do is to buy a Windows 7 licence and upgrade automatically to Windows 10, but I really prefer to do a clean, USB, first install of Windows 10.
Some info that could help for an answer:

The previous user told me the SR-2 has the latest bios revision, he sent to me just the MB with CPUs and RAM (in OC, for the windows installation maybe is better to reset to default values before????)
CPU 2 X Xeon X5670 (can I install windows with both or is better do it with one?)
RAM 6 X 2GB ECC each (in a 3ad I read that could be helpful install OS with a single RAM for a single CPU first... Is it true?)
SSD 850 PRO
GPU 2/3 X Strix 980TI (not in SLI, I need them for GPU rendering)
PSU Seasonic X-1250

Obviously I'm not a pro user, this is my first workstation I'm mounting by myself so every little suggest is really appreciated, thank you!

Not sure if anyone specifically done a clean OS install of Windows 10 on an SR-2 but it should work just fine.  If you already have a valid copy of Windows that you've used to upgrade to Windows 10, you can use the Media Creation tool to download the ISO or setup a bootable USB drive with it already installed.

Clean installation of the Windows 10 OS can be done with that.

    Thanks!
Yes, I've already got the bootable W10 PRO USB drive, made with media creation tool, now I just have to buy the SN/key for W10 PRO, But, before buying it, want to be sure don't loose time and money... So I asked!  Really scared!

Sorry, forgot to ask maybe a stupid thing: I made the bootable USB drive on a USB 3.0 pen drive, so can I use one of 3.0 USB of MB, Right? The installation should be faster yes?

There was one thing that I read but I'm not sure if it's been implemented yet, and that was being able to use the product key of the original version of Windows that was used.  I haven't double checked since Windows will currently validate Windows 10 on hardware that already had it installed.

Using USB 3.0 won't be a problem.  If it was an install of Windows 7 then you'd need to slipstream drivers which isn't too bad but even I've had some mixed success with that on a NUC.  Windows 10 already has those integrated into the install so expect smooth sailing.

For what I read, I can, and anyway, if the registration of past licence fall down, I can simply 'upgrade' the 'second' W10 with new SN/key in a second time, after the istallation complete... I mean, if W10 ask me for SN i put the right one and install it, If don't ask, I upgrade it later to be legal.

Just a suggest more about the OC:
The MB was dismounted, but I think that battery permit to still alive to the OC in bios setting, so, when I'll mount the SR-2 and install W10 (maybe next Tuesday, 8 days after dismounted) the SR-2 will run automatically under OC right?
If so, can i install W10 with the bios under OC or is better to reset the bios as default values?

I'd recommend against any OC's when installing Windows.  That's best left to be done afterwards once everything is installed.  Wouldn't want an unexpected error during a OS install.  It would be easy to recover but if it gets messy, it may require a zero-write on the HDD/SSD.

    Thanks for the advice!
So, in order, I should do:

    SSD in SATA 6GB
Bootable USB pen 3.0 in 3.0 MB port
Turn on and enter in bios
Set all values as default (and maybe take pictures of OC, before )
    Set Ahci (is it good?)
Restart from USB, start windows, format SSD and install windows in it.
Restart, enter the bios and OC it.

... And no need MB drivers during installation? Right?

During initial install you should NOT need any supplemental drivers

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Just let me mount it, turn it on and running, if something goes wrong, maybe I'll need a SMG... no matter for the model.

    Hi!
SR-2 arrived, pre-mounted and OS installed. W10 was working in 5 minutes!!! Really impressive! I really love it, tomorrow I'll install all MB drivers and OC. after that, an hard test with CPU and GPU rendering.
    I have a question:
CPU's have the 8 pin power connector and the 6 pin power connector (optional) and I read that that 'optional' means that you have to use it if you do a hard OC... But I need it? What they mean for 'hard OC'? I'll running X5670 @ 4Ghz. If i need it, can I use the 8/6 pin PCI cable (the same I use for supply gtx 980ti) to supply 8 and 6 pin connectors both with one cable? With the power supply I have just 2 CPU cables that can supply only one 8 pin connector each... I'ts the seasonic x1250...
    Thanks!

... And an advice too: I installed the SR-2 drivers from the site (I don't have the CD) but when I boot the machine everything seems normal but the SR-2 make 3 short beep, 1 'low' and 2 'high' like this: bop-bep-bep.
I tryed to find the beep code but nothing helped me...

I am about to install Windows 10 on a new drive on my SR-2. I'm keeping Windows 7 on another drive. What format should the Windows 10 drive be GPT or MBR ? How well does Windows work with UEFI ?

MBR since you're using an SR-2.

I recently acquired an SR-2 and had no issues with doing a fresh install of Windows 10 on an unformatted blank SSD using a USB key. I used the Windows ISO tool to make the drive bootable on another machine; the process was super easy all things considered.

I reused an old Win 7 license I wasn't using anymore, and it activated and everything. Very straightforward.
