Just thought I'd share some tips for some who are not super familiar with the EVGA checkout process in order to help them have the best chances of purchasing a new 3080 or 3090
 
1. Be logged in to your EVGA.com account BEFORE any announcements of restocking. If you have to log in after you hear about it, you're wasting precious seconds. Be assured the bots will already be logged in. Don't give them that advantage!
2. Check to make sure you don't have a different product or an out of stock product in your shopping cart already! This is a known issue in the EVGA webstore... Sometimes the cart will not delete an item you tried to purchase in the past (can you say 3080 launch day anyone!).
 
 
What this means:

• If you have tried to make a purchase in the past... you may not know that there will be that item in your shopping cart.
• When you try to purchase the newly stocked item... now you have an out of stock item in your cart too.
• This means that you have to remove the out of stock item from your cart and will be wasting precious seconds against our automated adversaries!
• Do yourself a favor. Double check by clicking on your cart and make sure your cart is completely empty. If it's not, use the time now BEFORE the restock to clear your cart!

 
3. Pre Load an Associate Code so that you save 5% and don't have to type a code at checkout. This saves you at least $35 on a 3080 and at least $75 on a 3090!!!  You can do this step before the 3080/3090 is even restocked. Time is of the essence. Do it before the cards are back in stock. Need a code? Here's Mine to save 5% on all EVGA 3080's and 3090's 
 
How it works:

• Using an EVGA Associate Code Link creates a cookie on your we browser that "saves" the coupon to your EVGA account. This coupon will then then remain attached to your account unless you clear your cookies from your browser or you make a purchase.
• After using the link, add the 3080 or 3090 to your shopping cart.
• Checkout and you'll see the EVGA Associate Code has automatically discounted your 3080 or 3090 by 5%!
• You can also manually add the EVGA Associate Code but that takes time to copy and paste the code. If you forget to pre-load the EVGA Associate Code, you can manually enter it, but just know you are reducing your chances of completing the checkout process before the bots! AND FINALLY...
4. BE LUCKY. Doing the above will greatly increase your odds but let's be real... We're fighting machines here. We're gonna need to help ourselves have the best chance but only the few lucky ones will be able to snag the next restocks fighting machines.

While that may be true, if you have an out of stock 3080 variant in your cart it will be difficult if not impossible to remove it with the website being slammed. You'll have to make a few queries with the website to remove it and then add the new product.
 
Good point though... I haven't confirmed if the out of stock item now is back in stock it it's persistent in your shopping cart and if it will allow checkout without errors.

Well you can’t say that the EVGA store hadn’t made any changes.

They’ve made at least one change by manually reviewing orders and cancelling those made by bots.

Still unseen how effective that method is but at least there is a lot of communication between consumers and EVGA. Just look at how many tweets @EVGA_JacobF is answering... know of any other company personally Individually answering peoples questions on that scale? I certainly don't.

We know there are problems with the website but EVGA listens to its customers. Just look at how they’re retrofitting the red “clown lipstick” on their FTW3 models. People complained. EVGA listened and took action to fix it.

Right now they’re again trying to optimize the website for another restock. Will it be effective? Who knows but at least they’re taking action and not ignoring us. They get paid either way... they don’t have to try to prevent bots. That’s just the kind of company EVGA is... and why they have such loyal enthusiasts that support them.

First, I want to say this was a great post, OP. Good job forward thinking. 
 
With that said, none of this matters when the site crashes upon adding a card to the cart. The infrastructure needs to be in place for any of this to matter.

Site kept crashing for me, even got one added to the cart but that's as far as I got.

I got a notification and was already on the site. As soon as the notification hit the site was not responsive.

Which does absolutely nothing when the site crashes and then auto-logs you out.  I was logged in, clicked add to cart. Site Crashed.  Opened link again... waited two minutes until it finally loaded... and what do I see... hmmm... I was logged out.

I agree. That's why I wasn't able to get a 3080. I had it in my cart and the site crashed. 
 
But if I hadn't have been logged in, then I wouldn't have even had it in my cart before the site crashed. If EVGA can get the traffic under control for long enough to complete the checkout process... maybe some real humans can complete the purchase before the machines.

Thanks for taking the time to make this tips list. It has been a rough week, full of disappointment so far. Trying to snag one of these cards is not fun at this point. Hopefully the release of the 3090 helps with 3080 stock.

Just curious, what time were you guys seeing them back in stock? I stayed up after work today hoping to catch the 6am refresher (8 my time) but never saw anything.

I saw them a little after 4:45pm your time.
