EVGA Step-Up® - Upgrade program Under the second headline, the second sub-bullet point of the Step-Up page it says this: Don't worry, your Extended Warranty and Advanced RMA (EAR) purchases now transfers to your new Step-Up product!
The Advanced RMA (EAR) hyperlink leads to this page. EVGA's Advanced RMA - Cross-Ship program Down in the Terms and Conditions section it says this: EAR plans are attached to a single product and are good for a single use. EAR plans are non-transferable to any other product, this includes cards received through EVGA's RMA and EVGA's Step-Up. You may purchase a new EAR for any RMA or Step-Up replacements you receive within 30 days of registration.
So which is it? If I decide to purchase an EAR policy for my new GTX 1080 and later decide to use the Step-Up program to get a better card, does the EAR transfer to the new card or is it lost? Both pages claim completely opposite policies. I'm just a little confused and would like some clarification. Thanks

I hope EVGA fixes the text so that it is clear.
In the meantime, all inconsistencies should be judged in favor of the consumer. Therefore, the EAR should transfer.

Based on an EVGA staff response in an older thread, and the actual purchase screen for the EAR, it does transfer over to a Step-Up card. The EVGA employee said that what they meant is that you cannot activate the EAR to be cross-shipped your Step-Up. It has to be sent in first. That is perfectly fine and more than fair, but I think that explanation is total hogwash. The wording on the EAR T&C is incorrect at worst and objectively ambiguous at best. It's been like that for several years now, but they really need to update the page to change the wording.

OP's question hasn't been answered officially. Yes, we get that it is an inconsistency, but which is correct? He says he found an answer in an older thread, but a current up to date answer would definitely be preferred.

:-)
The web team is usually pretty good about updating once they know there is an inconsistency.

I'm so confused now. I thought the point was to clarify that EAR does transfer to a step-up card.

I apologize for the confusion; if an EAR is purchased on the original card, and that card is stepped up, it will transfer to that replacement.

Not sure what you are confused about. Everything after the initial post was clarifying that it does transfer, to include the post you quoted.

Sorry, I thought CoolGTX was quoting something to be removed from the page. But I see now that it was something that was added.
