This stinks.  I understand that technology changes very fast.  But I spent over 1k a month ago and now this 980 gtx ti comes out with all the same speed but $400 cheaper?

    This is the case with all technology..something else eventually comes out that's better and/or cheaper.

    Yeah...  Nvidia launches a flagship card and then displaces it by $400.00 1.5 months later?

    That has never happened to this extreme before

    Technically it's been 3 months but it's still bogus. I think the 780Ti was an accident and was only released to combat the 290x. Now it's intentional with very little to no regard for current Titan X owners. Just goes to show how little Nvidia values their customers. I was always a proud Nvidia owner but not anymore. They've completely lost my trust and I just can't trust buying a GPU from them anymore because of the fear of it being outdone for cheaper just months later. They need to stop with the BS of staggering the release of their cards. Release them all at one time and let customers pick what they want instead of being shafted months later.

    While I do sympathize with you, it's not like you wouldn't have known this was coming.  Even if it was 3 months later you would still feel a little sold-out by how identical it actually is.  That's why the rest of us waited, because we all knew the ti would come and that it would be much closer to a titan than a 980.  We've all done it at some point so take it as a lesson in the world of ever evolving technology and always wait until after June before buying anything new.  That being said I just bought the 980 SC a month ago.  If they only offer the reference model for step-up then I'll just stick with the 980 SC.  I like my ACX.

    Oh give me a break. The next card they release you'll buy. I love when people post crap like this like it's the end of the world. Nvidia is a business they're making a business decision to combat the 390x ahead of time. Put your big boy pants on and deal with it. You pay a premium when you adopt the latest and greatest.

    even though the Ti is cheaper than Titan X, the X has more double the ram which is where the price difference lies.  As someone else has stated, its not like know one knew this wasnt going to happen at some point.

    Current Build:
    MB ----> Gigabyte Sniper Z87
    GPU ----> EVGA 980 SC ACX 4GB version
    PSU ----> Corsair HX1050

    CPU ----> 4770K
    SSD ----> (2) 500GB Samsung EVO
    HHD ----> 1GB WD
    OS ----> Windows 10 64bit

    HAD to know at some point nVidia would drop the 980 Ti and everyone rumored it to be Soon.

    Dropping $1k on a GPU is never a solid idea.. max would be $750 is playing it smart. Smartest idea would be 2 970/980's instead of the Titan X if you want its performance..

    To feel cheated on your purchase maybe you should have waited for R9 390x or "Fury". But you didn't and wanted the biggest and best card of its time. You reap what you sowe and maybe next time you'll wait before pulling the trigger. With the way tech eb and flows.. expensive -> Cheaper -> better -> expensive.. yada yada you had to know that within 4 months from titan x announcement that the next one would be out and its the 980 ti with half the price point and just about 8% slower.

    What's the point of waiting when they always release something else a few months later? At that rate you might as well just never buy another Nvidia card because they keep doing this. You seriously think everyone here has a magic ball that tells us that in 3 months the 980Ti will come out matching or even surpassing the Titan X for $350 cheaper? The 980Ti was a rumor with zero performance idea and zero price idea. There's not a single person here who thought this card was gonna be the same performance and sell for $650. If the rumor of $800 was in fact true it wouldn't really be a huge deal because it's not that much more for double the memory. A $350 price difference is massive and that's what the issue is!

    Trolls have to be trolls unfortunately :(
    I emailed support and I'll see where this defective card goes from there,
    Bottom line if evga does not swap out the titan x for a 980 classified and refund the full difference - shipping back
    I'll Never buy anything from them again
    They have advertised something that does not exist

    Hell I almost bought a Titan Z and they've been trumping that in the same manor as the X as the Greatest thing since sliced bread,
    I see no greatness in the X getting beat by a 980ti or a X crashing left and right
    Only a freaking troll would and a scummy company would not want to keep a happy customer especially one that has not even opened the box :p
    There is no losses = no opened box discounts..... just do the right thing evga.

    Ouch man, what a massive loss! The 980Ti is gonna devastate Titan X resell values but man that's brutal. $250 loss after a few months is just painful.

    Proves how many would of bought the Titan X if the 980Ti was out. I think most people are gonna either return their Titan X or try to sell it and buy a 980Ti. Titan X's pretty much won't be worth jack now second hand and will probably go for slightly more then a used 980Ti.

    Oh, yeah, you are right... LOL. Okay, step down. Come on guys, Nvidia has been headed down the crapper for a long time now. Don't expect them to care if they just released the 1,000 dollar card less than two months ago... There is a reason they released that one less than 2 month before this one... To get your money. Who would pay 1,000 when the 650 dollar card is just as good.

    I'm doing the same thing. I have no reason to keep the Titan X at this price. Used it for 8 days, but it's going back as soon as Microcenter's 980Ti stock is up.

    Honestly, its pretty crappy for Nvidia to do that, but when you buy into technology, theres always a chance for this to happen, for those who can return your titans, definitely do so.

    They really should have waited like 3 months out before doing this... That way all the early adopter's return periods would have expired and they would be SOL. At least if Nvidia is going to be scummy, do it right.

    I just got the titan x last week since I fig. the 980ti would be around $800 but I am going to return mine back to microcenter and pick up the ti instead.

    I'm doing the same thing. I have no reason to keep the Titan X at this price. Used it for 8 days, but it's going back as soon as Microcenter's 980Ti stock is up.

    Same here. Mine is 7 days old and I also bought mine from Micro Center. What is the return policy? I thought I recalled hearing something about 14 days to return the item?

    Exactly, I would of been like "Oh well, nothing I can do about it".

    I'm almost certain it's 30 days for GPUs.

    General Return Policy
    Desktop / notebook computers, tablets, processors, motherboards, digital cameras, camcorders and projectors, 3D printers, 3D scanners, and CD/DVD duplicators may be returned within 15 days of purchase. All other products may be returned within 30 days of purchase. Merchandise must be in new condition, with original carton / UPC, and all packaging / accessories / materials. If you need to return software, a game or a movie, remember that you may not retain any copies — it’s not legal, and it’s not nice.

    I just saw that on the store site. No restock fee?  I just don't see the TX being worth keeping.
