One thing that annoys me about aRGB is when certain devices don't sync together. For example, I managed to adapt Phantek and Lian Li devices to work with my corsair system. One thing that is not synced is my GPU. Can anyone think of a way to adapt the aRGB on the heatsink to aRGB headers? Is it even a normal 5v aRGB type of control? It would be nice to sync the RGB from our cards to our motherboards or other devices we have.

I believe this connector controls two sources. The light bar and the EVGA logo inside of the lips. The rear RGB has its own connector. There are 5 pins. More than likely, it's going to be a 5v pin, data, ground, data, ground. The connector itself, I bet the 5v wire splits off to both RGB sources to give power.

Sorry for using MS Paint, but I imagine the adapter would look something like this.

I am interested in an adapter too. I would prefer it to be controlled by my motherboard so it automatically turns off when my monitors turn off. AFAIK EVGA has no actual plans to implement that feature into their software.

I switched to a Hybrid cooler and I have my spare cooler in a box. I would be interested in working with a electrical engineer in figuring the pinouts using a multimeter or something. I'm pretty certain I have the diagram right, the next step would be to figure out the connector type and making our own adapters. But first, I need to also confirm that it's aRGB 5v, I believe it is.

They are 5v for sure. I have the clown lips shroud from the b-stock 3080 I used to have. The replacement shroud they sent me already had the RGB modules installed so I kept this one around just in case. Here is a picture of the module that lights up the EVGA logo inside the lips. I'll take it apart further later today so I can see how the other parts are wired to the main connector.

Appointment got canceled on me so I went ahead and took it apart a little further. It's just three wires going into the 5 pin connector. With the latch facing toward me and with the wires at the top it's Empty, Ground, Empty, Data, 5v. An adapter should be pretty simple to work up.

Wow thanks! This is awesome work! So... The RGB logo on the side has its own connector. I don't even know where that one would go. Any idea what connector style the 5 pin is?

I'm not sure so I sent a tweet at Jacob in hopes of a definite answer.

No reply yet but I'm pretty sure it's a JST-PA 2mm connector.

I also wanted to clarify, since I realize my pictures are a little confusing, that the EVGA logo on the side and the front main ARGB are both connected through that five pin connector. The side logo is connected with those three wires on the right side of that LED strip. The ARGB logo on the backplate has its own three pin connector on the back of the PCB. Here's a pic from Techpowerup's review to show the back connector.

Jacob confirmed that it's a JST-PA header. Seeing as how female to female JST-PA adapters appear to be impossible to find, I just took a 5v 3pin double sided male adapter and bent the pins so it would contact the correct terminals. I stuck it into the gpu connector and hooked up a 3 pin female to female extender cable. It works perfectly with my MSI motherboard/mystic light for the main ARGB and top logo on my 3080 ftw3 hydro copper. Here is the adapter I'm talking about.
