I was wondering if there is a way to set a 60fps limit.

For example I use a vizio 42" 4k that does 1080p at 120hz.  I keep it on 60 with vsync on and some games will still run at 120 and theres no setting or config file to change the hz that its' going. Is there anyway I can fix this, I only like 60fps.

Frame rate limiter. I think precision has this feature so that you can lock the FPS to 60.

FPS and Refresh Rate are different. If you want your Refresh Rate at 60Hz and have an nVidia video card. Go to the nVidia Control Panel and then click on Change Resolution. There you should see Refresh Rate and you can change it to 60Hz and click Apply.

Vizio inputs only accept 30hz on HDMI ports 1 through 4, and 60 Hz on hdmi port 5 for somee of the most up to date tvs that I can find (model p-c1). Since that is all it accepts., the 120hz refresh rate is only advertising, not what you are truly getting.

I am not sure if that changes with 1080p, from 4k, but I would be interested to know what model number you have so we can look more into your tv and help you.

Edu, a quick Google search does not return any vizio 4k monitors that I have noticed as of yet. Work may be blocking most sites though.

*edit* the 50"+ tv's do show port 5 being up to 1080p@120hz, but I am not seeing anything for the 42". Will keep looking.

If you want to limit yourself to 60FPS and you're using MSI AB, the RTSS program (comes with AB) also has a frame limiter in it where you can set the FPS to your liking.

Well I don't think having a tv as a monitor is a good idea. I tried once with a Samsung tv and the resolution was way lower than with a regular monitor.

I believe V-Sync would allow you to do this depending on the frame rate of your monitor, but I don't know too much about the technicalities.
