I have two computers. A desktop and a gaming laptop ( i know, i know. It's an alienware also, i just happened to get it cheap )
While i was ordering parts and waiting to build my current desktop ( First desktop build ever btw. ) I managed to get my hands on an alienware graphics amplifier, and plopped the graphics card ( Evga 1080ti sc2 hybrid )i had waiting for my desktop build into the AW external graphics dock and ran my laptop using the desktop gpu.
Did some testing, ran some benchmarks and didn't think anything about it.
The time finally came where i had all the parts i needed for the desktop build ( FINALLY! darn cpu was hard to get my hands on, 8700k ) So away i went, delided cpu, stuffed all the rest of the parts in and did some testing ran some benchmarks. After ironing out a few bugs here and there with the overclocks, all was well.
Overclocked cpu, at 5ghz and Overclocked Gpu, just above 2ghz neither one goes over 60-65c when gaming on ultra settings on 3440x1440 display.
It has been about 4 months or so since i have built my desktop. I have tried multiple levels of overclocking the gpu and seeing what it can handle. Now don't get me wrong, im not writting this post because i have any kind of problem, at least not that i know of. But because i just happened across something i found odd. I was trying out some new overclocks on my desktop because i keep wanting to get over 25,000 on the firestrike benchmark. I don't know if is a bad number or not for an 8700k and 1080ti hybrid, but i keep getting just under with like 24,890-24,989 and was like "come on man"
Over the past couple of weeks i have been fine tuning my overclocks again on my desktop and finally blew past 25,000 and got my best score to date at ( 25,201 ) Or so i thought. -All these benchmark numbers are just regular old firestrike, not extreme or ultra.-
So messed around with my desktop again today after getting home from work and ran a benchmark, looked at the score, and decided to look over my results from the past via the firestrike webpage. This is were it got odd, after looking over the past results i see one i had run with the laptop with the graphics amplifier housing the 1080ti hybrid and the score was 28,616!!!

What is going on here? Did my laptop with a 6820hk intel cpu, and 1080ti hybrid really demolish my new desktops best score of 25,201? And looking at the clocks of the gpu in this run they look like they are running at stock speeds. I do see it says on the results "unsupported benchmark. Driver has not been tested or approved."
would that cause this major difference in the scores of my desktop vs laptop?
Here is my current best result from my new desktop build.
