The galax vbios is compatible with all reference pcb's. Xc gaming cards use a reference pcb.

This is what I've been told, and that is the bios I tried to flash when all this broke. Not the kingpin bios. That worked fine. I played with it for a while. Ran some benchmarks, but ultimately I flashed back to my stock because I didn't really like pusing that constant high voltage to my card. So I ran with my stock bios again for several days before attempting the GALAX bios. That was a happy medium between wanting a higher power target without pushing a constant high voltage to my card. Alas... something went horribly wrong.

You should make a support request to EVGA, give them the exact serial and product / model number of your card and ask them to send you the correct bios file.

I can do that... sure. But yeah, like I said, before I even began flashing this card, I saved my stock bios as a backup. I reverted back to that bios after using the KP bios. And that worked just as it did before, no problems. After I attempted the GALAX bios, I got the error. And now I cant flash ANYTHING. Not even the KP bios which worked before. Every bios gives me the same error.

I'll still try my chances with EVGA support.

Don't think evga support is going to be able to help in this case. You're gonna need to follow the guide I provided.

Probably wont matter, once he tells what he done the warranty gonna be done anyway because he admits using wrong bios more than once. The bios should be able to be found at  https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/  Plus should have saved his original bios before even messing around with all the others.

If despite using EVGA provided bios and the right commands to flash you're still getting the same error then i agree that you should get a hardware eeprom programmer and follow the guide that the god of this forum Sajin has kindly provided you before

Re: I think I bricked my 2080TI when flashing a different ROM 2019/06/24 09:05:09 (permalink)
I have put in a support ticket.

At this point I'd pay to ship it to EVGA and pay an additional fee to have them look at it and potentially fix it on their end. But I don't expect that to ever happen. I just don't think I have the skills at this point to fix it myself. It's a miracle I was able to attach an AIO to this thing without breaking it. But chalk that up to the resilience of PCBs I guess.

For what it's worth, here's what happens when I try to save my current BIOS to a file.

Seems like the GALAX rom is still installed according to that.

Two reasons why I was suggesting use linux to flash:
1. With linux nvflash have low level access to GPU. None of the NV driver bs like on windows.
2. NVflash that supports RTX is not available for DOS.

Finally got nvflash to work in linux. Just did --list, and as it turns out, nvflash for linux only sees 1 display adapter in my system. The 1080TI (at index 0).

I guess that somewhat makes sense, because in Windows my 2080TI only shows up as a generic "Graphics Device" in nvflash (at index 1). Device manager shows 2080ti, but with an error next to it. So yeah... not sure what to do about that. Linux can't see the 2080TI, I can't seem to flash it there.

nvflash is later than 5.513? Did you manage to get TinyLinux working?

Maybe I'm going crazy but 5.414 is still the latest that works for Linux in that list.

5.414 way too old, hence it does not see RTX card.

Maybe some Goodies here https://download.nvidia.com/  Maybe for TiN_EE that is.

Windows only
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-nvflash-with-board-id-mismatch-disabled/
This is a patched version of NVIDIA's NVFlash.
On Turing cards, NVFlash no longer allows overriding of the "board ID mismatch" message through command-line parameters, so flashing the RTX Founders Edition cards with a custom-design BIOS isn't possible anymore.
Vipeax has thus modified the official NVFlash binary to bypass this error. You don't have to supply any additional parameters to bypass the board ID check.

This worked. Shows exactly what windows shows.
<0> GeForce GTX 1080 Ti  (10DE,1B06,1043,85EA) H:--:NRM  S:00,B:01,D:00,F:00
<1> Graphics Device      (10DE,1E07,10DE,12FA) H:--:NRM  S:00,B:02,D:00,F:00

Sadly, attempting to flash to index 1 results in the same thing.

ERROR: PCI Block corrupted 1.OffsetMode is true

And that's bed time. Work tomorrow. Will probably have to have a long talk with the wife afterwards. Fun.

This is very unfortunate but keep trying, read through all the options that were given once more, maybe there is a little detail that slipped you.

I use this kind of programmer when getting serious messing with bios...

the alligator clip can be used with some success so you don't have to desolder the eeprom from the PCB.

sounds like OP is taking a crash course in bios 101 and 102.  I took mine when I set the wrong bios password on a brand new laptop and learned it was stored in eeprom and not cmos...

Fear NOT OP With enough perseverance, research and a programmer you will most likely un-brick your card.  There are entire forums dedicated to it.

I am pretty sure unbricking is worth enough EXP that you will probably power level all the way up to jim5point0.

NVIDIA NVFlash 5.560.0

Does the Bricked GPU show up in the BIOS screen ?

This is why you never cut the power if there is Any doubt that the flash went sideways, very well could have re-flashed before the reboot

and why I never Flash a BIOS unless the PC is on a working UPS, to insure no power interruptions

Maybe the OP can give us an update ?

Did they fix it - Or - ship the card to someone with the tools to fix it ?
