Snagged a Hydro Copper 1080 ti for $899.

Not feeling great about that price but I was going to put an EK block on whatever I purchased anyways :)

Finally got a new card.  The scarcity makes it even more exciting even though I know I'm over paying!  Maybe I should get an EVGA Z370 MB too?

I had to look to see what you meant.  Register plus an additional $30 for 2 more years?  Card is already end of life right so what would it be worth in 3 years?  Maybe $100?  I'm not sure if it is worth it or not.

Why would you assume the card will die in 3 years, what if it last past that and then dies in 44 months? You have the extended warranty and if they dont make that cards still you get a card in equal like for free pretty much. Im going to add at least 2 years to mine as i see some guys got newer cards for having the extended. Better to spend 30 then 900 again in the future. IMO of course. Enjoy that card, my ftw 3 hybrid gets here tomorrow

All evga cards are able to get the extended warranty if you register the card and get the warranty with in the 90 days of purchase

Well honestly that's been my experience with Nvidia products, they always fail.  Not EVGA specifically but whatever brand.  I believe the last nvidia card I had was one of the ones released when nvida discovered the design flaw that made them all time bombs (anyone else remember this) or maybe I had one after that.  It was whatever card was good around when BioShock Came out.  I want to say geforce 7800 but maybe it was newer than that 8800? 9800?  But fanboys kept buying them anyways and it was quickly forgotten.  Here's the only article I could find on google about it.
https://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1004378/why-nvidia-chips-defective
Sure it was a long time ago, but I do remember these things!

I have had much better luck with AMD products to be honest, but I only buy AMD when they offer more bang from the buck.  I don't have any brand loyalty really but yea I don't expect nvidia cards to last like an AMD card.  Every nvidia card I have ever purchased has gone bad now that I think about it, and not a single problem with AMD / ATI even all the way back to my first card.  It was an ATI 3d Pro Turbo with 8mb of ram! I wished instead I had bought a Voodoo1 but got talked out of it :)

Congrats on the new card and I hope you enjoy it. Also as others have said it's good to register the card for the perks of elite status in the future.

Sorry for ignorance, but what is elite status? I bought 1080ti SC Black a month ago and registered it on EVGA page.

If we had extended warranty in Brazil, as you guys have in North America / Europe, I would definitely buy it for my cards.
If after 3 years my card would die, I would still be covered by the extended warranty.

Anyway, enjoy your card :).

Not bad! Curious, why did you go for the Hydro Copper? Price or the only one you could get your hands on? Was that the one you were after?

I’m in the market for a new card (worst time I know). I’m still rocking an EVGA 670 FTW :(

Well I got the card last night (need to clean my loop before I install it which means probably another 2 weeks before I have any time :(
Or one late night 2am session next week.

I'm regretting the purchase a bit though, after I ordered I started seeing a bunch of new articles about the next gen card coming out as soon as the next couple months.  Will I lose about $500 if I want to upgrade to the new king of cards in a couple months?  Seems like a really poor decision to buy this card on my part if so.

I went with the hydro copper due to availability and because it already had a copper water block installed saving me the hassle of having to purchase one.  Now it will be as simple as, drain the loop, install the new card to replace my 290x, fill the loop and install the drivers :)

Nice! I hope I can get a 1080 ti soon. $899 is the most I'm willing to spend on one right now.

Your card you have now should play all current games very well. I'm debating the same thing but you are in the same boat as me if they have a new gen card to step up to you will end up with a lower tier new gen card. Not sure I will do that but it has been crossing my mind, either way we both have top tier cards. Lets enjoy them

Nice! People are crazy for spending close to $1500 for a gpu. Thats almost the cost of my whole build minus the gpu.

How does the cooling / noise compare for the Hybrid coolers vs the Open air fans? I'm wondering If I should just go for it if one comes up at a good price. My case is big with good airflow if that helps.

I would pay $30 for an additional two years for more peace of mind.  This was way back when I got a GTX 460 and it happen to give me artifacts near the end of the warranty, since EVGA didn't carry the GTX 460 during that time, they gave me GTX 760 instead which was a nice upgrade.

Mean time between failures (MTBF) is an average of predicted failure time of a product with out maintenance as every thing fails over time even us and yes warranty can be a ripoff or a life saver depending on the company as both my MSI  970 developed issues so I send both back and they wanted to send 1 1060 3 gig to replace it but games want 4 gig now so I told them no unless the send me a 6 gig version and screwed me over for a month and the send me back 2 working 970s but by that time I bought a EVGA 1080 gaming edition with a 10 year warranty

Congrats on the card, they're very hard to score right now.  Add me to the list voting for $30 to extend the warranty for two years.  Seems like a no-brainer imho

Is there a set day that EVGA adds stock to their marketplace? I am dying for a replacement for my GTX 960 and finding something (1070 or better) is difficult!

Here's some pictures of the new vs the old card.  Man those EK blocks still look so nice.  The new one does not match the rest of my system but it's all good.

Sorry for the poor picture the the glare, I snapped it on my way out the door for work.
