Well I got the card last night (need to clean my loop before I install it which means probably another 2 weeks before I have any time :(
Or one late night 2am session next week.

I'm regretting the purchase a bit though, after I ordered I started seeing a bunch of new articles about the next gen card coming out as soon as the next couple months.  Will I lose about $500 if I want to upgrade to the new king of cards in a couple months?  Seems like a really poor decision to buy this card on my part if so.

I went with the hydro copper due to availability and because it already had a copper water block installed saving me the hassle of having to purchase one.  Now it will be as simple as, drain the loop, install the new card to replace my 290x, fill the loop and install the drivers :)

remember you also get 90 stepup with evga

I always like evga but damn that's amazing.  At the current prices I can't imagine the next gen card would be much more expensive if not cheaper.  I just have the card mining garlic coins right now as I download all my old games again over a slow DSL connection..  I launched BF4 this morning but didn't really have time to play since I was late for work.  I'm hoping to get some hours in this weekend though!

Don't hate me, I just figure why not mine while it's idle.  The card doesn't break a sweat on water with 8x120mm worth of radiator!

I'm registering the card and it appears the 5 year warranty is not free as was suggested.  $30 for the 5 year warranty, but I might trade the card in using the step-up program so I guess I should wait until the last minute to decide?

Or do I need to buy the extended warranty in order to be eligable for the 90 day step-up?

The Extended Warranty will allow the option to Step-Up the product1 that it was purchased on, for the first 90 days from the products purchase date. If a Step-up is processed then your Extended Warranty will automatically transfer to the new product at the completion of the Step-up request.

But then on the step up page:

  • Register your qualifying 3 Year Warranty product purchased new from an authorized reseller within 14 days of your original purchase date.
    • If you should happen to miss your 14 day registration window on your qualifying 3 Year Warranty product then you may also purchase an extended warranty within 90 days of your original purchase date to enable the Step-Up option.
    • Don't worry, your Extended Warranty and Advanced RMA (EAR) purchases now transfers to your new Step-Up product!
  • The EVGA Step-Up program is currently only available to residents of the United States, Canada, and EU Countries.
So if I did the step-up and would I have another 90 days to decide on the extended warranty?  Would it start from the original purchase date or the date the card was stepped up?

I threw mine onto mining some garlic coins while not in use (don't hate me) temp is 24c ambient is around 68-72f.

Finished re-downloading BF4 and hope to really give it a spin this weekend.  (maybe sooner if I get some free time).
I have been a bit out of the gaming seen for a while so I need to find some other good titles.

$899 is a bit pricey, going to have to mine while at work to help make up the difference :P   Don't worry though it's in a good gaming home as you can see from the pictures!

The lights look good too, there's just enough lighted stuff in my case to not look like a dance floor :)

Well that stinks.  I'm guessing it's because people could trade up to a new non hydro copper card for almost nothing?  Still its a bummer I probably should have waited for the new cards to be released then.

I guess no point in paying another $30 for the warranty then if I'm planning on getting a 2080ti when it comes out?

If you plan on keeping that card over 3 years, i highly recommend extending it's warranty.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! (the sound of EVGA laughing all the way to the bank with miner's money)

Face it, gamers are now the minority. We don't mean squat to these companies. For every dollar we'd spend, miners are spending ten or twenty, they'd be crazy not to listen to that kind of cash. You can bet your bottom dollar that EVGA and other suppliers are going to be funding research into cryptocurrency to keep the madness going for as long as they can milk it.
