notfordmanThat's a nice secondary rig, Mr. Craptacular. Do you think that the PCIe 4.0 helps anything with the limited bus? Your explanation makes a lot of sense.
DeliriousMaster Crap. This is the way. Lol
aka_STEVE_bhaha,,... yeah super budget VR system ... Once you start , it's so hard to stop .....and now you'll need a 1000W PSU to really start pushing it. You know it....
RainStrykeNice! Your Intel set-up could push it harder. I think your PSU might be holding you back. From everything I've seen on those, a lot of people are getting the GPU to max which is like 2700Mhz if I remember right.
RainStrykeWell, you gotta buy the water pump first to get the second loop, then you will "need" that PSU upgrade. Your scores look awesome all around, pretty much passes up my RTX 2080Ti even when I'm all pushed to the max on overclocks.Time Spy 16378https://www.3dmark.com/spy/17668429Port Royal: 10262https://www.3dmark.com/pr/806330 Does it seem like that much better than your RTX 2080Ti setup?
RainStrykeNice! I didn't have a good experience with the RX 5700XT so I was kind of drawn away from really purchasing a 6000 series card. It sounds like a lot of people are pretty happy with the new RX 6000 series but a lot more people are using AMD. Those that use the Ryzen platform are the ones that are happy with it from what I have noticed. I wonder if running Intel is possibly why I had so many driver failures... I would guess they probably focus most driver refinement towards the Ryzen platform.
RainStrykeGood to know, I've been curious about that for a while. It's been too long since I have switched platforms, playing around with parting out my 2nd rig to build out an all AMD set-up kinda like yours, probably a 6800XT and 5600XT though. I do see where the 5900X is getting in the top scores on 3DMark now, when I thought it was only Intel primarily.

Their achillies heel however is they don't all core overclock very well at all compared to Intel. Intel is still faster for benchmarks because they easily go beyond 5Ghz on even modest AIO coolers, where as with AMD you will often need sub ambient cooling (water chiller at the bare minimum) to even get close to a all core 5Ghz clock. You are often better off just using PBO on a standard air or even water cooled AMD rig for gaming since when you set a manual all core overclock on AMD you lose it's boost frequency turbo and single cores can hit 4.9+ Ghz on AMD 5000 series CPUs. There is only one board currently for AMD that lets you tune the core clocks and keep the boost bins but it's virtually unobtainable, the ASUS Crosshair X570 Dark Hero. I wouldn't say I switched platforms here, as I still primarily game on my Intel/Nvidia system. I just like to see what's available on both sides of the table. That's not to say I "wouldn't" however. If one system were to up and die and I was forced to just use one or he other it wouldn't bother me. They are both total overkill for gaming and both would be able to do really anything I asked of them as all I do is light video editing and mainly gaming.
CraptacularOneI would say go ride your bike but not sure how cold it is where you live. Down here in south FL we have the luxury of riding year round. I remember you being curious about VR, and your secondary rig is a fine candidate to play anything in VR........https://www.newegg.com/oculus-rift-s-head-mounted-display/p/N82E16826910011?item=N82E16826910011&nm_mc=knc-googleadwords&cm_mmc=knc-googleadwords-_-vr%20headsets-_-oculus%20vr-_-26910011&source=region In stock, and only $300 Great games like Half Life Alyx, Stormland, Asgards Wrath, Pistol Whip, Robo Recall,....etc.
donta1979Because you like punishment? LOL hey at least its cheaper than a Jeep. I am already 29k in on just mods/upgrades since April... with no end in sight...
