I am confused about EVGA's que system and why isn't there a waitlist spot approximation?

Hello everybody,

First time posting here, so I am on this waitlist for this card:

 9/17/2020 5:19:38 PM PT No

The EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra, aka the card I really want from EVGA. So what I'm wondering is that, why isn't there a date/time feature that allows users that are on the waitlist to see approximately how long I would have to wait for my turn to purchase a 3080. If this is a feature on EVGA's website, please let me know. I'm only contemplating picking up a RX 6800 XT over a RTX 3080 if by the time AMD releases (RX 6800 XT) and it's still not my turn to buy a RTX 3080, so to speak.

Thank you,
Abyssal Radon
P.S. I'm upgrading from a GTX 980 Ti, so basically I would more or less take any RTX 3080/RX 6800 XT card out there at this point...

There is an unofficial thread that’s user generated that is being updated. From the looks of it, they are only a few hours after launch on day 1 in terms of people getting their cards from the wait list. Seeing as you didn’t get into the notify list until almost 12 hours after launch it’s probably gonna be a couple more weeks wait for you.

thank you for responding, just kind of wished that EVGA did that so customers can adjust their buying decisions and what not. Basically, I've given up on Newegg, Amazon, BestBuy (BB really has been finicky lately), Microcenter, ect. I am more or less counting on EVGA's waitlist system for me to pick up a card. Though, I'll be very upset if I have to upgrade my CPU/MOBO/RAM if my current setup ends up bottlenecking a 3080...

What resolution do you normally run?

A 3080 will bottleneck, or very close to it, with even the fastest current gen CPU’s if you’re running low frame rate 1080p. Once you move to 1440p, aka 2k, the load shifts primarily to the GPU and your CPU is a lot less critical.

Well I can already tell you, your system is going to CPU limit your card if you compare benchmarks. For gaming however you'll be fine and maybe only a few percent off what others on a current gen platform are seeing.

I run games at 2560x1440 at 165Hz and I have two 3840x2160 60hz auxiliary displays. I primarily play on the center one and use the other two displays for reading and-or watching video's. So maybe I might be ok at playing games at 1440p 165Hz? Either way, I guess whenever I get a card and I feel like my system can't keep up, then I might just upgrade my platform. Plus all I play is Call of Duty on computer. I am literally buying a 3080 to run CoDBOCW, when I played the beta with my current system, I was hovering around the ~70 fps margin, with everything turned down, which was a problem because when the action heated up, I could feel the frame rate drops. Reducing the in-game resolution makes it impossible to see enemies from a distance, anyway that's why I am hoping I can get a 3080.

I would also like to know. I've been waiting to purchase the 3090. Thank you.

Well considering you're more than 2 days after the 3090 launched and that they aren't even through the first day's worth of "notify" emails(hell they are barely a few hours into the list worth of people) and we're more than a month after launch and I'd say I hope that patience is your virtue because it looks like you still have plenty of waiting to do.

I am not sure how EVGA could provide an estimate, since they apparently have no control over how fast they get their cards in.
