I think you should just watch the video instead and decide from there instead of asking us. Only you can judge if you think you are up for the challenge. I personally think it looks easy, all though it is not very aesthetically pleasing. But I don't care about that.

Yeah I plan on watching it when I get home from work... was just looking for opinions from others who are most likely more experienced than I am with it.

IN the video they used the 980 ti kit IIRC, not the 1080/1070 kit.  You can do that, but it won't look pretty.  Users on here have taken the 1080/1070 kit and used a dremmel to cut out a spot for the +6 PIN power and a few other mods so the shroud hooks up and lights up so it is purty.  We haven't seen any photos of it though.  Thinking about going this route, but I have not seen any on amazon for prime, so I can return if it won't work. 

As said I haven't watched the video yet but I assumed it was the 1080 kit based on what I read at the bottom of this thread about GN having done it.

This one isn't gamer's nexus but it shows how to modify the EVGA backplate to work with a titan xp.  the process should work on a 1080 ti as well.  takes some hack sawing and some grinding to make room for the extra power connector, etc.

Not sure...I haven't even bothered looking into 1080Ti stuff until today. All these companies scalping at $900...Ridiculous.

2. At first glance that looks like the 1080 cover, not the 1080 TI cover. But there is a cut out that might be for the second power connection...

Well, well well ... this was certainly a surprise to see this early. Not sure why this hasn't made a bigger splash yet? 

it is probably the titan xp shroud they might have been working on it for a while.  

Upon further review of the videos and in light of the latest "possibly next week" developments I'm just gonna wait on the hybrid kit.

Shhh...don't tell anyone else, we'll get first dibs 😂

Newegg has EVGA 1080Ti back up. Just ordered one. Can someone confirm if I need to order the 1080 Hybrid kit and do the dremel mod to make it fit or is it a different one or should I just wait for official kit?

Wasn't my post, but i agree he got it cheap i was debating on waiting a week for the official kit or just purchase the current one.

Sold my TitanXm for 300$ so yea. Yours should go easy around the same amount. Mine took 2 days to sell.

980ti is probs better with a good cooler but it still have more vram so more viable for sli set ups high resolutions. hit that 6gb vram marker prety fast depending on game and resolution. only reason i did the 1080ti. as it's ****ed up when u cap vram, and the heat omg. still just 1 game rotr that capped me at 7 gb on 1440p :p but yea. i NEED the hybrid kit for this summer i suspect. it get really hot with 25+ ambient. even with like 80% fan speed. 100% for the summer.. lol. but really 980ti is a prety sweet deal now used. it's still top tier card for almost nothing compared to what it sold for about a year ago. proper oc its super close to a 1080.

Does the kit come with a back plate, or does the FE already have one? Don't have mine yet (stepupp approved but waiting for the weekend so it isn't just sitting there on the weekend).

The FE comes with a backplate :)
