Morning folks, Just a quick question on what sort of frames people are getting in BF1 with the 1080ti FTW3? I'm running ultra at 1440p and only averaging around 90fps with dips as low as the 70s. It feels low for a ti. Could anyone running similar post what they are getting please? Also running at 6700k oc'd to 4.5. Cheers.

That doesn't seem bad running 1440 on Ultra. I know that's not what you want to hear, but averaging 90's is pretty damn awesome with settings cranked! I'm still waiting for my "Elite" (black) card to be shipped. Starting Monday, I hope. But keep in mind too, BF1 is a pretty demanding game. You playing campaign or multiplayer? You have at least 16gig system RAM? Is you 6700k stable at 4.5? How are temps for CPU and GPU?

You might want to try creating a user.cfg in your game directory and write this line in it: GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 8

Battlefield 1 on the 1080Ti FTW3 at 117% power target runs for me like this: 2560x1440: Avg: 129,902 Min: 105 Max: 140 3840x2160: Avg: 79,199 Min: 68 Max: 88 5120x2880: Avg: 49,851 Min: 43 Max: 57 7680x4320: Avg: 23,556 Min: 17 Max: 27 This is Ultra preset with 100% scaling running the first part of the first Singleplayer mission with the Black Bess, captured using FRAPS, not 100% accurate but gives an idea. Boost clock was anywhere between 1959-1974~. However keep in mind the Multiplayer is much more demanding for especially the CPU, I haven't checked that though, but from my experience on low graphics on my old 780Ti I was usually in the 80-120FPS range with 64 players.

Redleader, I take it this user config file for the processor is supposed to ensure all cores, actual and theoretical, are used by BF1? How well does this work? I have not tried this.

It just changes the max cores the game can use. IIRC it always leaves some for whatever other things the SO needs. The framerate seems more stable with my old i7-920 (x299 can't arrive fast enough). The good thing is that you can try it and see how it works for your pc. If you do not like it you can just remove the file and everything goes back to where it was. It has no side effects.

Good question. BF1 runs much worse with DX12. Now that you talk about that, you also reminded me that there is an option in BF1 that says "graphics memory limit" or something like that. Disabling it also improves performance.

In my case DX11 on Windows 7, Graphics memory limit disabled.

Yeah that looks about right for your frames. I bet the OP is running DX12. Hey, OP there is no need to run DX12, it doesn't make any difference other than poorer performance.

I run DX12 on my 1080TI FTW3 on 1440P Ultra settings and get from 140fps to 90fps. Make sure you screen scaling is set to 100, if you go above that you will really start dropping down in frame rate.

When i run DX12 on BF1 with the FTW3 there is so much input lag it's unplayable. Switch to DX11 and no more delay. Much preferred

Cheers for the replies all. I'll run some of the ideas here and report back later or tomorrow. In regards to dx11 or 12, didn't make much difference. I had tested both but 12 felt a lot more unstable for sure. Will come back with updates soon :)

That's really a shame when DX12 was supposed to make newer graphics cards run smoother and more stable! Also haven't noticed a whole lot of new content to utilize DX12. Not sure DX12 is ready for prime time!

I'm away form my home now but I'm running a SC2 and on Ultra I believe I'm getting 120FPS at 1440p. I turned two settings to low, undergrowth and Effects and use a FPS cap at 139 and its stays around there. I'll post some data when I get home n a few days. I don't know if its been stated yet but be sure Vsync is off in NVCP and in game as well as the in game cap, that setting always get reset with a driver updates and last week it was capping my FPS at 120 even though my refresh rate is 144.

I would expect higher framerates for a 1080 ti since I play bf1 at 1440p, maxed out, fov 90 and it never drops below the 60s on my 1070 SC, not manually overclocked.

At 3440 x 1440 with a slight OC I get constant 100fps so your fps does sound low. I've been using DX12 too . I'll have to uncap the frame rate later and check what I'm getting

Here is a snip from HWinfo after three rounds of BF1, I run with a FOV of 105 and everything is at ultra preset level at 1440p. Vsync off, Gsync on and a FPS limit of 139, just below my 144 Hz refresh rate. Smooth as butta.

I noticed the same exact fps in BF1 this weekend and realized the only change I'd made was to download the latest version of Precision...which it turns out was leaving my card stuck in idle speed of 430mhz or something like that. I uninstalled Precision and viola-right back up to 150-160 on 1440p.

I noticed an issue as well with BF1, ultra settings, dx12, 1080 Ti FTW3, I'm getting 75-85 on average FPS, this seems way too low, even with dx12.

What are you using to control your fans and gpu speeds? Using Precision without an overclock, my FTW3 will boost and run around 1987mhz while playing BF1 but my fps is not what I believe it should be. Ultra settings at 1440p and avg around 90fps.

I just tried it with DX12 and DX11, there was no performance difference except DX12 used a lot more VRAM (2 GB or so more), which is a non-issue since the card has 11 GB. I ran the game on a Ti Founders Edition and had noticeably better performance. I really am starting to wonder if Precision XOC + FTW3 is causing some sort of issue with Battlefield 1, I sometimes get as low as 50 FPS in Multiplayer with my GPU clock holding steady at 1987 Mhz, which just shouldn't happen with this card. I didn't start using XOC while gaming until I got the FTW3.

Does that drop happen in both DX11 & DX12? I have used XOC and AB without any drops in FPS, I have a SC2 though but I don't see how that would be the difference. After reading you post I'll try a few rounds with DX12 and see if something has improved but my experience with my 1070 notebook and my 980Ti in my current desktop had me quickly turn DX12 off in that game because it was horrible, not even close to being as good.

Just a random thought, do you run the OSD included with Precision XOC? If so try it without. In my experience OSD software also caused very slight microstutter when hooked into the game (any game), but a friend of mine was recently using Afterburner + RTSS in GTA V and his GTX1080 FTW suffered far more severe GPU usage drops than without the Rivatuner OSD being enabled.

I didn't start using XOC while gaming until I got the FTW3.
Just a random thought, do you run the OSD included with Precision XOC? If so try it without. In my experience OSD software also caused very slight microstutter when hooked into the game, but a friend of mine was recently using Afterburner + RTSS in GTA V and his GTX1080 FTW suffered far more severe GPU usage drops than without the Rivatuner OSD being enabled.
I do use OSD, I can try without and see if that improves the situation. From what I see online for benchmarks, I feel like I should be around 140 FPS, all things being equal. I'm getting 50-90, so would an OSD really cut performance in half?

I have OSD on. It appears within the Origin app is open but it does not display in BF1. Going to complete uninstall Precision and see what happens.

Another important factor is that "Ultra" is not always the same. DICE changes the quality presets in the different patches. I remember the "Ultra" quality improved a lot with one of the latest patches, so the graphical power required must have gone up too.

rlb9682 I noticed the same exact fps in BF1 this weekend and realized the only change I'd made was to download the latest version of Precision...which it turns out was leaving my card stuck in idle speed of 430mhz or something like that. I uninstalled Precision and viola-right back up to 150-160 on 1440p.
What are you using to control your fans and gpu speeds? Using Precision without an overclock, my FTW3 will boost and run around 1987mhz while playing BF1 but my fps is not what I believe it should be. Ultra settings at 1440p and avg around 90fps.
Nothing right now. I'm water cooled so no fan speeds on the card and just whatever the card boost is -1911mhz for my card
