Hello.

I have nothing but started to despise nvidia since last year. All I want to know is what to delete before installation. I am running 388.13 at the moment in which I have deleted multiple files. I of course have forgotten what and the fact it was a long time ago and a lot of new versions are here. NV must have packed more nonsense in.

All I need is the graphics driver and physx driver. I guess vulkan driver is default now as it was opt-in before. So, I cant not decide to have vulkan running as games require it now.

It would be best if someone makes a tutorial about this so others who want to go down this route can benefit.

Thank You.

Edit: So this is what I am doing. This is for anyone else who wants to go down this route. Everyone should in my opinion.

Some reflection on the obnoxious file size increase of driver package too. There was a time I used to hope that it would not go above 250. Then 300. Look what is happening. lol

Latest 397 isn't working on my side. Game (Wolf 2 TNC) getting stuck/locked. Narrowed it down to new vulkan version. Going a step down and using 391.35. Perfectly stable.

Download Size: 403MB.
Extracted: 1.07GB.
To Delete: ~590MB.
Real Package Size: 509MB.

What to delete? Simple. Every folder other than [Display.Driver], [NVI2] and [PhysX]. Then all you need to do is run setup.

Edit: This ^ only works till version 397.64. After that you have to keep GFExperience folder.

Grab your NVIDIA Graphics Driver and Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)..Start your PC in Safe Mode and run DDU using the Clean and restart option..Then install your graphics driver using the Custom (Advanced) install option and choose what things you want installed or not.

After you have the driver installed, go to Run and type > Services.msc.  Scroll down to the two Nvidia entires.  The one that says "Nvidia Telemetry Container" can be disabled.

Then in the search box type "Task Scheduler" and open it.  Select the Task Scheduler Library in the left column.  Now look in the center column for the Nvidia entires.  From there you can disable any of them so they don't run.  Should be 4 or 5 items.  I always disable them all after a new driver install.  Been doing that since Nvidia started with all this.

Lol, believe me Bob knows what the Nvidia package has and what it can do. I think what he meant, and you took the wrong way, was that the process hes describing is no biggie, its a easy problem to deal with. He wasn't referring to Nvidias malware as no biggie. Please correct me if im wrong though. If you just install the graphics and physics driver you shouldn't have anything else installed that you have to go root out and disable. Im pretty sure the telemetry stuff was tied to there update app....I think.

I only ever install the graphics & PhysX components of the driver and the things I mentioned above are all there...

What a massive waste then. Might as well go AMD.  Taking out all of the great additional features of NVidia offers beyond simply running standardized API's is beyond retarded. No other way to put it.

So in your way of thinking, those who install only the graphics and PhysX components are "beyond retarded"?  I personally have no need, nor do I use anything else that's included.  Why would I install the rest?  Am I reading what you said correctly?

    Yes, I know.

Create a new folder somewhere..Put the NVIDIA Graphics Driver package in it..Extract the contents of the driver package (I use 7-Zip, free)..Delete the NvTelemetry folder from the extracted driver package..Run DDU..Run the driver package setup.exe to Custom install the Graphics Driver and PhysX System Software and then somehow like magic, NvTelemetry will not be installed with the driver package, most likely because it's not even in the driver package anymore to BE installed (call it a hunch).

    Works for me.

There's other ways to do it too, such as in Post #4 which is the bestest way.

All I ever used were gpu driver and physx.

All 388 AFAIR had telemetries install and I couldn't do anything. Only thing that worked was deleting those telemetry files before installation.

As I said, after 388.13, I haven't updated at all. So who knows what else invidia guys have packed in.
