I have a 3060 XC that makes an annoying grinding noise whenever the fans turn on. For some reason, the fans turn off and on whenever it sits between 54c to 55c, making for intermittent grinding noises. I tried setting a custom fan curve in both Afterburner and Precision so that the fans always stay on, but it didn't work. It's almost like there's a phantom fan stop set to 55c somewhere. Any idea to get around this?

Custom fan curves won't work if you close out PX1 or AB. You can set a constant, fixed % speed and close out the program and have it work.

With that said, you may need to restart if you just installed the program(s) and it isn't working while you have them open.

Ab and precision have settings in the menu that will set on boot-up so if you made a custom fan curve it will be there when you restart if you want

Does your card have OC BIOS switch like my 2080 does? If yes that is what did it for me.

-IF- it does have it (not all EVGA cards do) it is usually small switch along the top edge of backplate. I tried to find it on pictures of 3060 XC and couldn't find it but that doesn't guarantee anything, it is hard to see with naked eye even when card is in front of you.

Create your own fan profile and play with the settings.  You can use a case fan to blow onto the card to provide just enough air that the fans won't turn on.  There's many ways to solve this.

I've tried about five different fan curves and they all make no difference. Another case fan isn't an option for my case. I'm just going to try to RMA it.
