Where to begin?

I work full time, was working 2 jobs, but now only one... however my wife now works 2 jobs.
We have a 19 month old son, that i take care of mon-fri. 4:30 p.m. till bed time.

I also need to wake up, and get him ready for and take him to daycare mon-fri. at 6:30 in the morning, then i head to work.

The weekends are mostly shopping, cause the wife feels like she is trapped if she has to stay home at all.
Wake up, shower, get ready, get my son ready, leave between 10-11 am, return about 4-5 p.m.  Cook dinner, eat, clean up, get son ready for bed, get myself cleaned up and ready for bed.
This goes on every week the same way.
Trying to find time for anything else is difficult, However i never mind taking care of my son, he is my #1 priority, and will do whatever it takes to care for him.

I have some of the newer games, Destiny2.. installed, Level 1.  Battlefront 2.. installed, havent played., Grand Tourismo sport (ps4).. raced arcade, 2 laps.
That is the extent of my gaming the last month.

So help me my brothers.. how to make time for gaming?

Well the good news is it will get better as you son gets older and more independent.

You need to make a scheduled time for you to unwind, maybe 1 or 2 hours 2 time a week at first; your wife also needs her down time.

I'd guess your little one is down between 7 & 8 PM ?

Your golden time is after your son is down for the night and your daily to do list is done.

They are only little once and remember what you do with them, longer than what you bought them

Children --> the Toughest Job you'll ever Love   I do really love it though.. but started late.
Besides marriage.

Well i may have figured out what i can do... thin king about it, i completely forgot about Nvidia Shield.
I mean i have a pretty good pc, Always thought.. i have that, no need to ever have a Shield.

I do get about 5 hours every other weekend, give or take a week or 2 for Magic the Gathering,  Been collecting and playing since its release.
Probably have one of the biggest personal collections in the state.
So there is that.

It is also true the older he gets the less supervision he needs, but he is a papa's boy.. he needs me around every time something is not right for him.
My wife also has a hard time taking control of him.. and when he gets fussy, she doesnt handle it well.
Its not like she hits him or anything, she is to caring for that.. but you can see she becomes frustrated by him not really being able to understand some things.

My wifes downtime is not really down time, its her naps everyday between her 2 jobs.  6am - 2:30pm she works m-f. then naps about 5:30pm to 8:30pm m-f, and works m-f 8:30pm -12midnight.
I see why she wants to get out of the house on the weekends, but leaves me little to no time to take care of projects, or duties around the house... that in turn leads to no gaming.

Maybe im thinking too much about myself.. but have been an avid gamer since Atari 2600.
PC gaming since AMD K6 266. Grim Fandango... cant even imagine pc gaming on that kind of cpu anymore.

Family will always come first and then you game when a time gap between responsibilities is available. Those breaks will probably be few, but better than none at all.

Dont think that would go over well with the wife... but its worth a shot.. if i actually had money to pay for one.
Daycare is hella expensive... $1000 a month.
Also, since he started Daycare Nov. 8th. He has been sick 5 times, been to ER 3 times... He is finally getting better now. Poor little guy.

Seems like Magic the Gathering is kind of taking a lot of the gaming time but if you enjoy Magic then no problem with that. I used to play back when the cards all had black borders and square edges and you could get a whole set of all 300 cards for like $69.

The real thing would be to find time for a little bit of gaming that doesn't really hurt. Playing a racing game or a few rounds of Battlefront 2 won't keep you up that late after the little one goes to bed.

Also try to keep teach good hand washing for the little one and use the wipes at the stores for the carts since odds are good the last child to sit in the shopping cart at best had a finger in a nose and you really don't want to consider what would be the worst that could have happened.

Simple. Just play when you have some spare time. Gaming is not the most important thing.

You need some nice grandparents that are willing to help out a few hours a week.

$1000 a month for daycare is expensive.

We had my wifes parent here for a while.. that helped me to start my business, but they went back to China, and wont be back till spring.
When they get back, i will have some time... mother in law watched him all the time for us.
That would save us some money too.  get me some new puter parts.

Outside of them, my mom will watch him sometimes, but dont like to ask her, as she is taking care of my 2 teen nephews full time while theyre father is away.

I dont have any relatives in the state besides my mom. Dad passed in June.

You can play games all you want when your kid's old enough to want to do their own thing. For now enjoy it because they'll never be this age again.

So help me my brothers.. how to make time for gaming?

When your kid's a tad older, you can begin to integrate video games into legitimate learning experiences. Mine (at 5yrs old) would grind FFXII for me while I washed dishes (w/help from the gambit system of course).

I have to agree with this. As the kid gets older try to work gaming into being a family bonding experience. It might take a bit of time and a bit of a change in the games you play but your son will start to enjoy gaming and that will give you some free time for your own gaming.

I will give my son time and space.. want him to develop his own personality.
If he shows interests in games, then i will set him down with some old school stuff first.. Mario Bros. or something like that.

He is already showing interest in drawing.. i was the same way.
I dont want to be too strick, or not strick enough.. Bend but not break.

I understand games can be a bonding experience, but so can lots of other things.

Me, im a jack of all trades, and that bodes well in todays society, hope he picks up many hobbies and doesnt listen to people telling him he cant.

On that note, have one Nvidia Shield Portable coming... for my wife , she likes a couple games that she can play during her 1 hour lunch break.
I am entertaining the thought of an Nvidia Shield TV Pro.  Need to get that hooked to the big screen.

It wont be long and i will be playing something.

What about time at bedtime? I dont sleep, and usually spend time gaming, reading for a few hours once the wife goes to bed, that way she gets some of my time before bed, and i still get me time.  Or maybe get up early for your me time, or get a good start on ur day, maybe even take over some of ur wifes duties, giving her more time for her. You both need yalls me times...

My kids are at the age now where we can play together which has been great. Sure its minecraft and whatnot, but its a great way to spend time together.

Solo time is limited due to life, but I try and take one evening a week and carve that out to play. My wife warmed up to this over time, and uses that as her free time as well. Its far from consistent, but that's ok. Lastly, sometimes I'll get an hour of playing in the morning. Everyone is asleep and I just make a point to get up earlier (around 4). This is not great for story driven games, but works well to get several matches of multiplayer in ahead of the day.

Honestly you don't need to live the rat race on the weekends man that should be the one time absolutely nothing is required of you for at least a few hours. Find the time to unwind even if the little one is right there next to you. Let your misses do her thing get her hair/nails done go shopping and you watch the tyke at home.

Game is not that much important but family is the most important part.
So its not necessary to play game everyday but its necessary to give time to your family every second.

If you think in a simple way then play game when you will have time like once or twice a week.

Got a Shield portable.
Amazing..can play right in my hands, set it down whenever needed, it goes to sleep in about 5 mins.
pick it up when im doing the family/papa thing, start back up where i left off.  running discord, can talk to my mates without a headset on.

only used it monday and teusday for a little while.. but was exactly what i needed.  Now need to set it up for my pc games.
Already bought a micro usb adapter with extra inputs so i can add a wireless mouse and keypoard for my pc gaming.
Have a 128gb micro sd card for Retro gaming (Retro Arch/ Happy Chick).

Think im set for now.
