Happy to see that you found a way to get your game fix on Just keep in mind that young children are always listening and there minds are little sponges absorbing everything around them. In fact their language skills are vastly improved when exposed to active "live conversations" as it stimulates their learning of language They also learn some of their personality - how to respond - by seeing how you act ---> so be a good role model in the throws of gaming ("live conversation" - TV does not count, based on the last research I've heard of)

No worries, we dont cuss or stuff when were around him, we try to encourage him any way possible. Constantly trying to converse with him, trying to teach him all the time. My gaming experience is not more than a few minutes here and there, but thats kind of how i want it. If i get 30 minutes gaming in the course of 6 hours, im doing good.

One thing i have to admit, the portable is my wifes. Her game is The Sims 3, and WoW. She wanted to be able to play The Sims 3 during her lunch break at work, and asked me how she could do that. Her asking this question got me into thinking if there was something out there for me too. I thought about the portable, and that actually might be better, but im after the K1 Tablet. My eyes are not getting better with age. So i tried hers out for a couple day after getting it delivered. I love it, but still think i need a bigger screen. Im taking it the controller on the portable will have no latency issues compared to the K1 Tablet, as it is hardwired, and the K1 is Bluetooth? Hoping i can connect a usb hub to the tablet for wired/wireless keyboard and mouse, as well as a ethernet adapter. similar to what you can do with the Amazon Fire TV. one way or another, im going to get a little gaming in, as well as taking good care of my son!

Not a failure.. doing the right thing. I have read, you can stream PS4 to the Shield portable, or any other android device.. and still use the ps4 controller. So take care of family, and try doing what i do.. you could probably get a 7" tablet on CL for $40.

I'll might give the Shield a try (once i finally unbox the console)....my fingers are killing me from using the phone....big hands small phone....terrible.

With daycare adding up to said $1000, would giving up your wife’s (first and/or) second job to be @home with the little one be an option?

You should get the PS4 set up. Then get it fully updated and games you want to play installed then in the future play. You said you had GT Sport which is a pretty good game to play a bit of in a few minutes. Also keep in mind the PS4 is pretty good at pausing single player games while you go and take care of stuff just by hitting the home screen button. If it's in the power save mode you could power it down and play through a level of a game when you can without losing progress.

Thats one of my favs, and can play for about 10 minutes during a bathroom break at work. Dist51 With daycare adding up to said $1000, would giving up your wife’s (first and/or) second job to be @home with the little one be an option?
I pay all the house and car bills, My wife pays for our health insurance and Cell phone bills, and does the saving of money for vacations and such, as well as pay the daycare. My Ps4 is set up, but when were downstairs and im taking care of my son, i put the tv on some cartoons for him, we will play and laugh at cartoons together while talking, or at least he tries to talk. Thats why i am interested in a Shield Tablet, so i dont have to take away his cartoons and Sesame Street.

You could save some time with MTG by playing magic online, they're even beta testing mtg arena right now which is phone/tablet platform for mtg. Unless of course FNM is a deal breaker :p

When he gets older may I suggest some early reader books like Magic Treehouse and encourage him to check out books to read at the library. That was one of my most fun pastimes as a child and I grew a sizeable vocabulary very early on, it also improves abstract thinking and critical analysis. I remember sitting still for hours on a couch powering through 300-400 page novels without a peep only getting up to grab a snack or drink--the side-effect of that is it gives you time to slip away and play some games every now and then too.

Best way to get more FaceTime? 1. Make sure your significant others hardware is 2x better than yours. 2. Or be single, no kids, and a job that allows flex time.

Once your son gets a little older, get him into PC gaming. Then it becomes father and son bonding time.

I'm starting to experience that as I get older. I just recently got my first out of college "real job", and I'm starting to realize that you just don't have as much time in the day anymore versus when you were a kid. I just try and play on the weekend for a couple of hours or sometimes after work. Just remember, family and real life come first.

Think the solution is simple, just quit your job and get your wife to work more jobs. She would, if she really loves you...!

Major respect to for doing the best he can for himself and his family. The world needs more parents like you. I'm really glad to hear that the nvidia shield has been working out for you and your wife. My step kids are grown up and in college now, but if there was one thing I could do over again it would be spending more time with them. I wish you all the best and keep up the excellent work.

I have a wife and two sons ages 8 and 6. Getting my game on is really easy for me. Over the years Ive baked it into my daily schedule. After work if iys my wifes tuen to cook and the kids don't need helo with homework then I game. I Also play games after the kids go to bed for about an hour. I work in 12 hour shifts so the most days I work is 3 in a row and have 2 off. 3 on 2 off 2 on 3 off 2 on 2 off and repeat. Gives me mucho game time.
My advice is to bake it into your weekly schedule wherever you can!
