Are you gonna overclock the cards? CPU? how many other accessories do you have?


Prob oc just for bench numbers, then back to all stock clocks, have 6 bitfenix led fans, dvd drive, 3 hard drives, maybe my ssd, bitfenix recon touch screen fan controller, razer megalodon headset, that about sums it up.

Is that the one? If so then it would be able to hand your setup. However "and this is me" if I had access to both PSU's I would swap it out for the corsair unit mainly because I like to overclock my cards for gaming.

I think Neo Eco and Earthwatts(Antec) should be added, as they are SeaSonic rebrands.
 
For the SeaSonic 750w, you've got enough headroom for 690SLI or 3x680s, with plenty of overhead for some extreme overclocking, and lots of harddrives, accessories, and maybe some more add-on cards/a physX card.
And probably another 690, if you don't mind falling under the 80+ gold spec.
 
The X750 can deliver close to 1000w within ATX specification, but no longer meets the strict 80+ Gold efficiency ratings past 750w. On top of that, the ripple/voltage regulation up to 750w is better than most units at 450w.

I picked up a SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 PSU for only $160.00 while the egg had them on sell. Its a Gold rated psu with 87amps on a single 12v rail so im not worried about much, lol.
Couldnt turn it down for that price and I run SLI anyway with a heavy overclock on the GPU's and CPU.

 
Thats a great deal....and a great PSU......is it fully modular?...w a 140mm fan.?.....at this point I can only go fully modular ;)

.....On a more Thread related note, the Rig in my Sig draws around 875W from the wall looping Valley (measured between wall n PSU)... take into consideration the "Gold Rated PSU", likely around 750W from the wall.....and thats OC's Tri SLi 680 Classy's w 3930K @ 4.7 Ghz

I just picked up a Corsair HX850 watt for 149.00 a week ago. My rig utilizes 820watts w/2 670 GTX FTW's sli'ed on a 2500k@5.0ghz. My cpu uses 186watts alone at 5ghz. I have 2 SSD's, a spin drive, and 7 fans in my case. I was running a TX850, but after 9 months it started to fail. I went 80% gold certified this time, and noticed a difference immediately .

Great post, been very useful and its why I'm asking this question;
 
I've been troubleshooting some PC issues I've been having for a while now, and after reading your post I used Asus PSU calculator (Mainly Asus parts I use :( ),
 
Would you mind casting your eye over this rig below and confirming if I do indeed need a minimum 1050w PSU as Asus state,

Absolutely not. A good 600w would be fine, even a 550w could probably handle it, though I wouldn't want to run a system like that on less than 650w myself.
Just make sure it's a good power supply, and not some logisys diablotek ultra trash. Get a SeaSonic or CWT or Delta based unit at 650w and you'll be good to go. I highly recommend picking up a Corsair or Antec 650w SeaSonic or CWT, or one of XFX's 650w SeaSonics.

The AX1200i is a great PSU, but i'd sway more people to the AX860i instead due to it's slightly better efficiency for idol loads. But if you had tri SLI GTX Titan's, i'd definitely go with a AX1200i.

Coolermaster PSU Calculator is a direct copy of http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp
 
It's accurate, but it's better to not support plagiarism and use the original calculator.

Well I'll be fine at least going SLI as long as I do not overclock with my setup w/ 750 gold PSU only leaves me with about 50 watts to spare at 100% load on CPU and gpu's.

It's accurate, but it's better to not support plagiarism and use the original calculator.

Lmao.... it's not plagiarism......it's called using the same format, their are literally dozens of the same exact format calculators on the web. Someone needs to go back to school and learn the definition of plagiarism. Plagiarism is when someone copies a written work, or document and then calls it their own.....

No, it's the exact same app. Several other sites use it and link to the original, as well. I don't see any link or credit on the CM webpage, however, which means it's plagiarism.

Going to necro this thread to say that many of you over-buy what you need in a PSU. Just because it's "1000+ watts!!1!1!" doesn't mean it's good. Much better to get a lower power model within your actual usage range (allowing for some headroom for heat and stress), but which has very stable voltage regulation with low ripple and noise and good efficiency. The PSU and/or other components will last much longer.
 
Check jonnyguru.com, it's all you need to know when shopping for a PSU. They're as unbiased and thorough in their testing as you'll find anywhere.
 
I can highly recommend the XFX XPS Black Edition series, at least the 750w and 850w units. I've had the 750 for 5-6 years now, running at least 18 hrs./day and it's been excellent, even outlasting some top end Enermax & Corsair units I've had.

Personally, I'm a fan of the EVGA 750 G2 and 850 G2. Although the 1600 T2 is a beast as well.

I didn't test 5he card as shipped because allot of reviews said the thermal paste was not good at all. So I did remove the heat sinks, cleaned polised surfaces and applied Artic Silver paste before installing it. So I didn't test it as it came with, so I removed there paste wich didn't look to good,.
Results, been running cool and near silent for 1-1/2 years now. I'm not a heavy gamer but like my video to look good at 1080p and it runs Project Cars @1080 pretty smooth.
Probably should have bought the 4Gb version, but at the time I figured I can always drop another one in as needed, and there cheaper now.
No complaints here, I'm happy with it.

500Gb SSD Cucial MX series
6 1Th Sata 3 HDDs, 1x external and 2 USB 3 docks, one is built into the Thermaltake Chaser II case which is a nice feature. Just pop in a he's like an old 8 track tape.
Also running a Thermaltake Water Extreme 2.0 water cooler, so running power for that as well as 7 fans which rarely need to spin up.
The Black Widow eems to provide plenty of stable and level power that never spikes.

This is an Old Thread "How much power do you need? (600 series)" and is about the Older GTX 600 Series Graphics Cards?
900 Series Cards run 1 and half to 2 time less power or wattage then the 600 and now even 700 series cards need.

Good point. 1000 watts of peak output doesn't matter if its only stable at 500w.
Check the sustained output on the specs per rail. If you have a modular PSU, it may look cleaner but it's probably not good to connect everthing to 1 rail, Split the load.
Have you ever noticed some PSU are very light weight and another that's the same wattage weights twice as much.
Weight is not a good way to determine if it's better or not, but if you can't get the specs on it, it's a good indicator.
