Depends on the card. I'd say for a 3080 FTW, I'd go $100-200 above

Guess it would depend on the source. Some places have been selling cards for over retail that I trust but I am not going to hand over $1000 to a stranger for the hope it’s a working GPU and not a box with a brick inside.

It depends on the card and circumstances.
I wouldn't pay $100 over sticker for a gt710, but I would probably buy a 3060ti for $100 over MSRP.
Feeding scalpers is part of the problem. If nobody buys them, then they will be forced to lower prices, though.

I paid 30 percent over MSRP for my video card. Now it is 50-70 percent over MSRP.

Yes, a friend of mine bought a 3080 for like 900 a few months back from a unknown site. He never got his card and getting his money back was a pain.

Regardless: I won't spend but maybe 10% over MSRP (not including shipping)....I'm not gonna feed scalpers and give them a reason to continue to
buy up all the hardware.
Let them eat the losses, they'll stop buying it.

Paying above msrp is just in general a bad idea, because it just shows the manufacturers what desperate people are willing to pay and just becomes the new norm for the next release. Unless your job depends on it or you print money with it, then you dont have much of a choice.

0% over for me, I'm patient enough to wait and I'm not desperate enough for a card that I'd pay over MSRP any day of the week.
Though the patience might only be because I can't afford anything over MSRP :p
Also I agree with austin86, it's too high for what the cards are worth, I kinda wish we'd return to 10 series prices, those were alright

Exactly. "What the market will bare" is just a game of seeing how much money a company can squeeze you for. I'd rather put my money elsewhere and not add to demand.

TBH I think the MSRP is to high as it is. I been eyeing a 3060 for a wile now and to me its a 250$ card max.
This exactly. I am planning on looking more next year and seeing what happens. If I am forced to upgrade sooner I would only go $50-100 over.

About £100/$130 over, I suppose? I remember prices regularly going above MSRP before there was any worldwide silicon shortage.

MSRP is already too high right now and fortunately I got a 1660 Super shortly before the crisis. I want to do flight simming with VR which is too demanding for my card, but the 4 series seems like a better moment to upgrade, because of the smaller production process and hopefully, the end of the worst of the crisis (although we may not ever get back to pre-crisis pricing).
So the answer is negative for me right now (price has to be below MSRP).
