How do I remove Intel's Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 Software from Windows 10? I have uninstalled it countless times only to see it show back up in Windows. What's the fix to totally uninstall this crappy software application? What does it even do? Is it worth it's weight to even consider using? I even tried revo uninstaller with no luck. I feel this software is integrated or perhaps embedded into the intel cpu hardware some how. Any suggestions on removing it would be very helpful.

A few things I would try if uninstalling it normally doesn't work.

    • Open Windows Task Scheduler by pressing the Windows + R keys to open Run, then type in taskschd.msc and click OK..Then click on Task Scheduler Library in the left pane..Then see if the Intel Turbo Boost Launcher is listed in the right pane where you can right-click it to End and Disable the Task..Then try uninstalling it.

    • In Run, type in services.msc to open Services..Find the Intel Turbo Boost Service if it's there..Right-click it to see the Properties..Then click Stop..The set the Startup Type to Disabled.

Guessing that it (or a part of it) might still be running and not allowing or completing the uninstall.

    • See if it's shown in System Restore and select it to "Restore your computer to the state it was in before the selected event"..Or choose a previous restore point to when you installed it.

    #2 Uninstall from device manager.

If Windows Update keeps reinstalling it, disabling Windows Update isn't a very good idea at all and should never be recommended..It would be better to either defer it (365 days I think in Win10 Pro) or even better to grab the Show or Hide Updates Tool (wushowhide.diagcab) from Micro$oft and run it to hide that specific driver update (and others, as wanted) from Windows Update, but yet still allow you to view/download/install other needed/wanted/important updates such as all-important security updates.

More on using the tool, creating a .bat file to auto-run it on a schedule if you want to, metered connections, and stopping Win10 Updates here..To download the tool or view other Micro$oft pages, you may need to open them with Internet Explorer and not Edge.

Okay, great news! Question? If I also disable the turbo boost in the system bios will that create a cpu performance issue?

Yep, you'll be losing some performance from the cpu.

I'll just live with it. It's not going to hurt anything being that it's the Intel 7900X 10-Core

Well that sheds some light on the situation..You need to have the Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 that applies to your processor, or it probably won't boost properly in a default BIOS configuration..Leave it be..Leave it enabled..Don't disable it..Don't uninstall it..If you want to bypass it, disabling 'Multi-Core Enhacement' in the BIOS should probably do it, but there's no real good reason to do that..Let it be.

I'd have to say that's wrong. ITBM3 is for boosting only a few cores specifically when needed, more so than with the default. I think with the default chip boost say 2 cores would boost to 4.2GHZ, with this program, they'd boost to 4.4GHZ or something. It's really just bloatware and actually caused issues for me because it tries to override any overclock you already have set in the BIOS. You can add programs that you want to specifically boost higher with ITBM3 to a list that it will prioritize/boost more frequently. I have a whole thread on how about just having it running caused a bunch of issues while gaming, regardless whether or not the game was in the "list".

    From the website:
    "Detailed Description

    Overview
Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 identifies the best performing core to provide increased single-threaded performance."

If you have already overclocked your PC, you only need BIOS settings. It's completely 100% unnecessary for everyday life.

    I know what it says.

The cores wouldn't boost properly, as needed, in a default BIOS config..And it would almost certainly put a yellow bang on Processors in the Device Manager or show as an Unknown Device because that driver is missing..All that has happened before.

Manually setting and overclock would negate the need for it, but the yellow bang or Unknown Device would probably still be shown in Device Manager and people don't know why.

Best thing is to install it, leave it be, and don't worry about..That's the bottom line.

It DOES hurt. Actually it overrides BIOS-Settings and my i7-6950X makes max 4 GHz at 4th core, all others max 3.5 GHz. You CAN'T uninstall it. OK, You can, but as You restart Windows, it's back again. I asked Intel support, they answered, that it is fact: Only single Core 4 makes 4 GHz, all others 3,5. Nonsense, if You use Intel XTU, it is possible to override TBMT 3.0 and overclock as before. Then You can set XTU max to the settings in BIOS.
Why? Ask Intel. They won't answer. And I know, which CPU I'll buy next. Sure no Intel-CPU again. I bought a product at 1650,- €, that runs without problems at 4,6 GHz at all cores. Until a Windows update with Intel's TBMT 3.0....and really NOBODY needs this software.

If you are on windows 1809 or you have KB4100347 (or what ever the full kB number is), overclocking is all wonky. I have KB4100347 permanently blocked from downloading and updating onto my PC, but 1809 remains an issue for some reason.  I will stick with 1803 for now.

I had my overclocking working just fine with tbm3.0, but the updates from windows caused the problem. And locked my 6950x to 3.5 (9 cores) and 4.0 (1 core) when I normally run 4.3 on all cores.

I tracked the overclocking through the update, so if you have 1809 or that 1803 KB4100347, then they are your problem. It had absolutely nothing to do with turbo boost max for me.

*edit* adding images of the issue: Note that Intel Turbo Boost Max is installed and working in every image.  the first image was taken over an hour ago, then I reinstalling 1809, then removed 1809 again and reverted back to 1803, so these are chronological order without ever removing intel turbo boost max.

Yes, You're right. But actually I'm working with the pre-release (Windows Insider Early Access) 18282 and it's still the same. I asked Intel, they told me, that this is NOT a bug. It will stay this way in all future Windows-Releases. My question why - was ignored. No answer. So I installed the Intel Xtreme Tuning Utility, deactivated ITBMT 3.0 (I never used this sick software, and I'll never use it in future) and all is as before. With one difference: I have to use IXTU.
The stupid answer by Intel, that only core 4 can be overclocked to 4 GHz max (!), all other cores only to 3,5 GHz really ...... me up. Because it's nonsense.

And that is how AMD wins. If intel is going to advertise that their processors can overclock, and then lock them down so they cannot overclock, they will permanently lose customers.

People don’t buy parts that are advertised to overclock just to say it used to be able to, lol.
